The Quality Manager for Bunge Protein Ingredients is responsible for managing quality and food safety programs for the business unit. This position will provide leadership and support to plant operations aimed at producing high quality plant-based protein ingredient products. This includes quality systems development and maintenance, work instruction development, training, internal facility audits, project support, new product commissioning, and employee and organizational development. This position will also drive continuous improvement in both quality systems and food safety as measured by internal and external audits and KPI goal achievement.
Core Functions:
- Provide quality, on time service to Bunge business units in all assigned tasks, while upholding Bunge s Quality and Food Safety standards.
- Provide leadership necessary to implement and maintain effective food safety and quality programs in accordance with Bunge and industry standards.
- Organize and maintain current documentation of processes and SOPs within the Quality Management System.
- Work with Bunge Supply QA team to ensure protein ingredient acceptability and product specifications are met.
- Drive continuous improvement in the areas of Quality Assurance and Food Safety by setting goals and identifying key performance indicators in this area of the business.
- Contributes to the writing and upkeep of Quality and Food Safety policies and procedures.
- Assist in the preparation, review and audit of food defense plans for the locations.
- Facilitate the development and improvement of our food safety plans to meet FSMA requirements.
- Help train and communicate the requirements of FSMA as defined in Bunge policies.
- Work closely with the locations to assure their plans are compliant in all aspects including but not limited to record keeping associated with preventive controls of FSMA.
- Manage an internal audit program to provide assurance of FSMA compliance. Audit reports or summary of these audits must be published to Operations leadership periodically.
- Support all the complaint handling processes. Review complaint resolutions and advise on adequacy and sustainability. Promoting improvements in the complaint handling process. Reporting trends in types of complaints and complaint process metrics.
- Resolve quality issues at facility level and facilitate root cause analysis activities to resolve customer complaints and communicate resolution and corrective actions to customers.
- Audit operations to focus efforts on improvement. Performing audits of facilities, departments or processes as indicated by complaint metrics.
- Reviewing facility GMP/food safety monthly audits for concerns and progress.
- Performing audits of co-packers and suppliers as needed.
- Participate in key customer audits.
