REGISTERED RESPIRATORY THERAPIST- CARDIOPULMONARY
HCA HOUSTON HEALTHCARE CLEAR LAKE is a full-service hospital offering a 531 bed inpatient and outpatient medical, surgical and specialty services. The campus includes Level II trauma capabilities, a Neuroscience Institute, The Heart & Vascular Hospital, a bariatrics program, the Breast Diagnostic Center, a wound care center, a level III Neonatal ICU, and the area's only pediatric emergency department and pediatric ICU.
HCA HOUSTON HEALTHCARE CLEAR LAKE is affiliated with HCA Houston Healthcare, part of the HCA Healthcare Gulf Coast Division. The division is a comprehensive network of hospitals, outpatient surgery centers, emergency centers and diagnostic imaging facilities in greater Houston, Corpus Christi and South Texas. Facilities include: 17 hospitals, nine ambulatory care centers, 13 off-campus emergency centers, and a regional transfer center.
WHAT YOU WOULD DO IN THIS ROLE:
* Responsible for the recognition, interpretation, and recording of signs and symptoms of respiratory dysfunction and medication side effects, particularly those that require notification of a physician.
* Responsible for the initiation and maintenance of cardiopulmonary resuscitation and other life-support procedures. Ensures adequate airway management and assist with intubation.
* Responsible for knowing the mechanics of ventilation and ventilator function.
* Responsible for knowing the principles of airway maintenance, including endotracheal and tracheotomy care.
* The effective and safe use of equipment for administering oxygen and other therapeutic gases and for providing humidification, nebulization, and medication.
* To know and understand the principles of arterial blood gas analysis, acid-base balance and demonstrated competence in obtaining arterial blood gas samples.
* To know and understand the methods that assist in the removal of secretions from the bronchial tree, such as hydration, breathing and coughing exercises, postural drainage, therapeutic percussion and vibration, and mechanical clearing of the airway through proper suctioning technique.
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION
* Associates degree required in Respiratory Therapy
WHAT QUALIFICATIONS YOU WILL NEED:
* Minimum of 1 year of current/recent experience working in a hospital setting referred.
* Registered by the National Board Respiratory Care. Current permanent license issued by the Texas Department of Health to practice Respiratory Care.
* Current BCLS certification from the American Heart Association required.
* ACLS, PALS, and NRP are preferred.
