JOB DESCRIPTION


Position Summary: Application Engineer II for the Climate HVAC Large OEM business unit. Serve as the technical liaison for HVAC Large OEM customers assigned to translate their customer requirements into product solutions to meet the customer and business needs. Develop and qualify existing and new motors and product solutions for our customers applications. Establish tests and procedures to qualify our HVAC products and optimize our tools. Act as main point of contact between customer engineering team and our global HVAC engineering team, as well as subject matter expert in motor technology at the customer sites. Strengthen customer relationships through timeline resolution of issues and providing solutions to their needs. Develop and provide training and documentation for customers to communicate product features and functionality to customer engineering teams. Support moderate to complex product changes, deviations, and sample development. Manage customer focused productivity deck and support internal qualification efforts on customer focused design changes and transition projects.

Major Responsibilities:


  • Work as technical liaison for the HVAC Large OEM customers to develop and qualify existing and new motors (ECM & PSC) and other product solutions into our customer's applications.

  • Learn customer applications to establish tests and procedures to qualify our HVAC products and optimize our tools.

  • Acts as main point of contact between customer engineering team and our global HVAC engineering team, meeting regularly with their engineering team.

  • Act as a subject matter expert in motor technology at customer site.

  • Strengthen customer relationships by providing timely resolution of outstanding issues and solutions for their applications.

  • Develop technical training and documentation for customers to effectively communicate product features and functionality to customer engineering teams.

  • Oversee & support moderate to complex product changes, deviations and sample development.

  • Help engineering team to flow down customer key requirements to internal new product design requirements.

  • Manage customer focused productivity deck and support internal qualification efforts on customer focused design changes and transition projects.

Required Education / Experience / Skills:

  • Technical Bachelor of Science Degree, related field or equivalent work experience. BSEE preferred.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills

  • Ability to gather requirements, write specifications, test plans, and application notes

  • Ability to read electronics and HVAC schematics, Bill of Material and Engineering drawings.

  • Strong planning and organization skills.

  • Evident enthusiasm, adaptability, initiative, creativity and problem solving skills.

  • Willingness and ability to learn, help, create and adapt to new technologies.

  • Aptitude for troubleshooting computer hardware and software program issues

    Travel: Some travel to customer locations required,




    Language: Fluency in English is required. Fluency in Spanish is a plus.




    Desired Qualifications:


  • 3 to 7 yrs. experience in HVAC or electric motor industry

  • Six Sigma trained, Experience with statistical analysis, Greenbelt certified

  • Design experience with ECM and/or PSC motors

  • Project leadership experience
