Your Responsibilities

This position can be located within a commutable distance for reoccurring/routine trips to Augusta, GA

As a Financial Analyst for John Deere located in Augusta, GA, you will perform moderately-complex financial analysis. You will be responsible for tracking, support information, and financial counsel with management on various processes or activities and provide financial analysis on projects or profitability analyses as requested to support the financial objectives of the company.

In addition, you will


  • Participate as a member of new product development teams providing financial counseling, including analysis and recommendations, to enhance operations and results
  • Support new product development program teams with target product cost development and tracking
  • Counsel new product development program managers and teams in evaluating & presenting project proposals
  • Determine reasonableness of financial justifications, establish guidelines and provide training to non-financial professionals
  • Prepare investment approval requests that ensure achievement of minimum financial hurdles in support of the financial objectives of the company
  • Execute Discounted Cash Flow (DCF), Make vs. Buy, and Lease vs. Purchase analyses in support of new product development capital and research & development investment and sourcing decisions
  • Provide financial counsel to management and other functional disciplines in the area of expertise.
  • Report, reconcile and communicate with product and business unit leadership regarding key financial metric results, reconciliations, and sensitivities
  • Work on teams to develop new processes.

What Skills You Need


  • 4 or more years of experience in accounting, finance, and audit
  • Knowledge of capital budgeting and capital equipment justification process
  • Experience with financial concepts such as budgets, discounted cash flow (DCF), return on investment (ROI), operating return on assets (OROA), shareholder value added (SVA), etc.
  • Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) or equivalent
  • Experience with accounting systems and policies
  • Understanding of the integrated systems of internal control and the relationship to disclosure and financial reporting

What Makes You Stand Out


  • Experience with finance management fundamentals, including cost accounting, general ledger, capital budgeting, and financial forecasting
  • Experience working with capital justification process
  • Experience and understanding of discounted cash flow analysis
  • SAP knowledge
  • Knowledge of manufacturing, engineering, and marketing principles

Education

Ideally, you will have a degree or equivalent work experience in the following:


  • Bachelor's degree in an Accounting/Finance discipline
