UCI Temporary Employment Services (TES) continuously seeks applicants that are interested and available to work in Senior Hospital Assistant roles on temporary assignments at the UC Irvine Medical Center in Orange. We recruit for this position on an on-going basis in order to build a talent pool of potential candidates.

Essential Job Functions:

The Hospital Assistant aids professional and technical nursing personnel primarily by accomplishing a variety of duties and procedures, which are directly related to patient care.

Primary duties include:

* Taking and recording vital signs

* Monitoring vital signs and detecting changes in the condition of patients

* Assisting patients with hygiene and elimination

* Maintaining a clean and safe unit environment

* Stocking unit supplies

* Operating hospital equipment as directed

* Performing routine clerical tasks

* Supervising patients in your care without distraction

* Alerting nurses when patients need help or intervention

* Providing emotional support and companionship to patients

* Assisting patients with basic requests

* Refraining from performing medical procedures or any unauthorized actions

* Keeping patient information confidential

* Adhering to hospital policies and standards

Compensation Range:

$18.72 per hour + shift differential when applicable

Required:

* Finished successfully 1st year of nursing school

* Finished at least one full clinical rotation

* High school diploma or equivalent

* Experience performing basic functions, such as checking vital signs

* Exceptional listening and communication skills

* Strong observation ability

* Ability to handle emotionally distressing situations

* Professional appearance and excellent hygiene

* Ability to act calmly and swiftly under pressure

* Available to work night shifts, over weekends, and on holidays

* Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification

The majority of our temporary positions are Monday Friday, 8:00a.m. 5:00p.m., however, we also have occasional part-time, weekend and evening hours available. Comprehensive benefits options are also available for temporary employees, including paid vacation, holidays, and sick leave.

Some temporary assignments may require clearance of health physical or require a valid California Driver s License for driving university vehicles.
