Velex, Inc. is hiring a Tower Technician III in the following area(s): Centennial, CO.
Who We're Looking For:
Velex is currently looking for a Tower Technician III to join our growing team. The Tower Technician III is expected to perform wireless installations as well as test, analyze, and troubleshoot problems within the wireless network with minimal guidance for tasks performed. They will have a strong working knowledge of LTE, GSM, and UMTS platforms as well as highly skilled duties related to installation, testing, maintaining, and troubleshooting network systems as related to equipment installation and failure. Performs antenna sweeps, frequency spectrum sweeps and maintains site configuration data using computer software and digital photography. Routinely works with all outside installation contractors and departments within the company to complete work assignments on all equipment to include microwave, antennas, towers, coax cabling and associated equipment.
What You'll Do:
Follow proper safety procedures when using electrical test and communications equipment and OSHA Safety standards
Evaluate the job sites and communications equipment, and secure and protect as required
Knowledge of sector/antenna configurations with respect to jumper and coax routing, RET settings and cabling, and fiber routing
Fully test an antenna/line system as required via PIM or Sweep
Proficient testing and working with Fiber
Follow detailed method of procedures (MOP) and practices to perform maintenance on equipment
Interpret the alarm conditions on the network and implement repairs and restoration plans to ensure minimal service disruption and impact to customer
Climb tower sites daily to conduct repair and install equipment; may climb multiple towers daily
Ownership of the top of the tower and everything related to the build or upgrade of the site while on the tower
Read and understand CD’S and RFDS so you can make sure radios and antennas are set according to build plans
Train other Tower Technicians and Apprentices

The Skills and Background You'll Bring:
Experience with and the ability to climb towers 100+ feet tall, with a 50 lb. load
Able to crouch, kneel, bend and twist throughout the work day
Able to reach, grasp and climb with both hands
Computer literate
Must be able to pass a drug test and background check
Must be able to sit, stand, walk, and drive or ride in a truck for long periods of time.
100% travel required. Must be able to travel outside of local market and any state across the U.S., possibly for weeks at a time.
Flexible to work shift work to include maintenance windows and weekends as needed
Must have a valid driver’s license with an MVR record that classifies you as insurable if required to drive and the ability to drive long distances on and off road and to tow trailers
Must be 21 years of age or older
Must be able to become DOT certified if designated as an eligible driver for the Company
2+ years of experience climbing and working on towers
Strong leadership ability preferred
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, regulations, instruction manuals, blueprints, and specifications
Good oral and written communications skills and the ability to speak, write and read English
Local to the market
Periodic air travel will be required
Sweep and PIM Certification preferred
Experience with GSM, UMTS, Carrier Adds, and LTE.
Skilled at installation, testing, maintaining, and troubleshooting network systems as they relate to equipment installation and failure
Experience testing and working with Fiber
OSHA Safety standards certification is preferred (will provide training)
Comtrain or Fall Rescue certification preferred (will provide training)
