Summary/Objective: 
The Development Engineer is responsible for the development of new products and manufacturing processes. Establishing sound technical basis for these developments, this role will work closely with internal team members to understand material and manufacturing constraints. With a strong detail-orientation, this position will document development processes, perform experimental processes, and track results. 

Essential Functions: 

Product Development/Improvement 


  1. Plan and execute small to medium development projects, and portions of larger projects, under direction provided 

  2. Review technical requirements for products and materials to develop and execute experimental tests for products and manufacturing processes 

  3. Performs technical troubleshooting on existing processes and products, as required, to advance product development and improve overall performance 

  4. Under the direction of leadership, performs additional related development activities Solves problems of limited to moderate complexity using conventional approaches, or works with internal resources to develop new/unconventional solutions 

  5. Contributes to new platform development 


Reporting and Documentation 


  1. Delivers verbal and written reports outlining progress of current and ongoing projects 

  2. Extensively documents processes and material specifications used in the development process 

  3. Works closely with team member to develop standard procedures and work instructions for product manufacturing 


Team Orientation 


  1. Works with cross-functional teams such as engineering, supply chain, sales, and manufacturing to learn requirements and work through planning for product requirement execution 

  2. Meets with customers on an as-needed basis to better understand their challenges and product performance requirements 

  3. Communicate and participate with teams to provide project status updates

Required Education and Experience:


  • BS in chemical engineering (or equivalent materials related field) with emphasis in polymer chemistry

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, plan, organize and oversee multiple research projects

  • Must be a self-motivated individual with excellent communication and time management skills who is organized, meticulous and be able to tune in different types of experimental work

Preferred Education and Experience:


  • 1-3 years development experience 

  • MS in chemical engineering

  • Good analytical and reasoning skills

  • Experience in Polymers and/or Materials Science
