Based out of the TPI Santa Teresa, NM location, the Technical Trainer leads and evaluates the delivery of training to TPI Field Service associates as well as assists in the creation, maintenance, and control of all training related documents and records. Coordinates and exercises functional authority for planning, organization, control, integration, and completion of wind turbine blade non-confirming repair (NCR) repair/reconstruction by performing the following duties.
Primary Responsibilities:
Lead training activities and evaluate team training delivery effectiveness according to the stablished training plan
Provide assessment to personnel hired or sub-contracted with any level of certification
Re-certify all associates periodically as required
Train associates in the classroom as well as in the shop or open field as required
Assist with instructional design activities including task analysis, writing learning objectives, determining instructional strategies and assessment techniques, and creating courseware materials and trainer lesson plans
Consult with subject matter experts on learning objectives and instructional design
Assist in the development, implementation, and management of training devices that replicate or simulate real production equipment and production techniques
Work 1:1 daily with associates to ensure accurate training and support
Prepare reports, weekly and monthly
Support the training team and other departments in the creation, maintenance, and control of procedures, work instructions, best practices, forms, and other training related documents
Prepare and distribute documents and forms as needed
Carry out internal auditing assignments including performing audits and maintaining records of audit activities
Give support to other departments that work with the training team
Assist with the development, implementation, and training of continuous improvement
All other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Skills/Experience:
Associate degree (A. A.) from a two-year college; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
English fluency required, Spanish language is a plus
Blade manufacturing or blade repair experience preferred
Knowledge of composite materials, their use, handling and application in blade repairs
Knowledge and handling of the different tools and equipment used in blade repairs
Experience in the infusion and post cure system in composite materials
Experience in assessing blade details during inspections to identify levels of blade damage severity
Technical expertise in composites manufacturing
Knowledge of quality and procedure controls
NCR or blade repair experience preferred
Experience in adult learning methodologies
Ability and willingness to work outdoors under hot, dry, wet, and cold conditions
Ability to work in a structured training environment
Organizational and time management skills, close attention to detail
Good verbal and written communications skills and be ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization
Travel requirements up to 35%. Willingness and physical ability to work in wind field working environment for long periods of time
