Job Description:

We are looking to fill a mission-critical role in the R&D organization for a Lead Software Developer in the Platform Engineering Team within the Systems Management organization.  The candidate should have strong software development (architecture and implementation), as well as operational experience.  The ideal candidate will also possess an operational mind-set and strive for integration with CI/CD/automation.

How you make your mark:

• You have the ability to lead multiple projects and software engineers as well as internal and outsourced development partners responsible for all stages of design and development for the Systems Management platform, including solution design, analysis, coding, testing, documentation, and integration.




• You drive innovation and integration of new technologies into projects and activities in the Systems Management organization.




• You provide guidance and mentoring to less- experienced staff members.




• You have deep software experience in System Management areas including container orchestration, authentication & authorization, micro-services architectures, distributed object storage software, image repositories, and configuration management.




• You have deep architectural experience in building highly-reliable software systems with the ability to perform continuous operation upgrades and rollbacks.




• You have strong dev-ops experience with CI/CD/CT pipelines, automated testing platforms, site reliability engineering, and chaos monkey testing.




• You have significant software expertise in distributed systems and services models – REST-based services – as well as integration with 3rd party web services, orchestration systems, control and management planes




• You have deep expertise in software, languages, tool chains, and still be actively writing production-level code




• You have motivation and ability to provide self-direction in addition to being able to lead small Research and Development teams




• Experience planning and delivering a large-scale software projects, from large user-facing use-cases down through product planning and execution backlogs and onto sprint backlogs.




• You are experienced with introducing new technologies and tools into a culture of more established personnel and working through the cultural challenges of keeping individuals and teams engaged and productive.

About you:

• You have experience with kubernetes, containers, and micro-services in a production environment.




• You have experience with deploying and managing services in AWS, Azure, GCP, or OpenStack.




• You are experienced defining robust APIs and providing implementations using a micro-services architecture model.




• You are experienced with a modern, full-stack CI toolchain on a public cloud provider.




• You have 5 + years development experience with Python or Go (or C#, C++, C, Java, JavaScript) or similar programming languages




• You have experience in designing, building and supporting (in devops fashion) large scale, multi-tenant software platforms, ideally through a well-supported API




• You have Linux or Unix software development expertise




• You are experienced in automating large-scale deployments with modern tools (Ansible, etc.).




• You have experience working with various container run-times and orchestration platforms (Docker, Containerd/cri, K8s Mesos, …).




• You are able to lead development efforts and driving architecture strategy and implementation.




• You have great verbal and written communication skills and ability to effectively communicate product architectures, design proposals and negotiate options at senior management levels.




• You have the ability to collaborate across teams and organization.




• You have excellent analytical and problem solving skills.




• You have a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent.
