Position Profile: The Director, Metal Procurement & Scrap Supply Chain is responsible for developing, deploying, and maintaining global commodity strategies across the various grades and forms of aluminum and alloying materials, including, but not limited to: aluminum ingot, value added products, scrap, billet, magnesium, manganese, zinc, and chromium. This people manager position is responsible for day to day activities and leads the metals team to conduct strategic sourcing, portfolio management, value chain analysis, supplier relationship management and savings initiatives globally.

Essential Functions : The Director, Metal Procurement & Scrap Supply Chain position includes both creation of strategic vision and tactical management, including execution of the following essential functions, examples include but are not limited to:


  • Understands the strategies, demands, and requirements of the business segments and works to develop global metal commodity strategies that are consistent with short- and long-term strategic plans and cohesive with the business requirements.
  • Supervises a team of global commodity managers and influences a team of regional resources with intimate knowledge of the aluminum commodities, market and the business within the portfolio to deliver effective strategies. Ensures integration of strategies across all metal categories.
  • Analyzes the supply market to gain an understanding of the market dynamics, to define supplier segmentation, to define supply side power, and to identify benchmarks to help identify supply side opportunities.
  • Works closely with the commercial team, supply chain, and Sales and Order Process Teams to analyzes the demand side for aluminum and alloying material commodities to ensure that we have commodities.
  • Identifies short- and long-term opportunities within the commodity spend portfolio through market and business intelligence and interaction with Business Units that will add value
  • Responsible for supplier relationship management with major global commodity suppliers to: (a) assure maximum value to Arconic; (b) supply flow assurance; and (c) market intelligence. Manages and updates commodity strategies regularly to ensure alignment with changes in the business and market.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited Institution
  • Minimum 10 years' experience in strategic metal commodity management, commercial roles for metal industry
  • Minimum 5 years' experience managing a team
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of Hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position
  • This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status. ITAR defines U.S. person as an U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee

  • MBA in Business Administration/Economics or similar preferred
