* POSITION SUMMARY

* Develops Control Desk goals, objectives, policies, and procedures. Ensures goals and objectives are met within the specified timeframe while providing the highest quality of care compliant with all regulatory requirements.

* Ensures consistent, proactive communication with Surgeons, Anesthesiologists and staff in a professional and courteous manner.

* Relates effectively with entire department for continuity of care; maintains satisfactory relations with the Anesthesia Officer of the Day, medical staff, other departments, and nursing units.

* Plans, organizes, directs, monitors, and oversees the daily activities involved in the effective and efficient management of the OR schedule, providing continuous and high quality service for the patient, physician, and staff.

* Collaborates with the OR Director and Schedulers in the development and enforcement of scheduling policies and procedures and schedule preparation, to ensure optimal OR time/room utilization.

* Maintains active communication among physicians, staff, nursing staff, central processing staff, PACU, SDS, nursing units, and other ancillary departments, ensuring schedule progression and problem solving participation.

* MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

* Registered Nurse (RN) with valid New Jersey state license required

* Bachelor's degree

* Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification required

* Five years of operating room experience required

* Three years of progressive management experience in the OR required

* Membership and participation in professional nursing and community organizations preferred

* Certified Nurse in the Operating Room (CNOR) certification required
