PURPOSE

The RF Design Engineer is a member of a multidisciplinary engineering team responsible for development of Analytical Probes and Calibration Standards for characterizing and testing on-wafer RF structures. This person will be a subject matter expert in on wafer RF measurements and EM field theory and will be responsible for ensuring that new products meet the defined performance objectives. They will understand the customer's technical need in detail, use this knowledge to help set target product specifications and performance expectations, and guide technical product development choices through simulation and measurement. They will participate in vendor selection and qualification for purchased products and services which impact electrical performance. Additionally, the person in this role will help with technical feasibility analysis through simulation when customer requests are not clearly inside our capability, as well as work on continuous improvement of the electrical performance of existing products.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- Drives electrical design of new products for optimized electrical performance.

- Ensures that developed products meet market need through simulation and measurement.

- Participate in the development of new, on-wafer VNA calibration methodologies.

- Assists Marketing in defining electrical performance requirements for new product definitions.

- Write applications notes and deliver conference papers.

- Provide training and technical support to the Applications teams and customers as appropriate.

- Participates in execution of continuous product improvements.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED

- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Physics, a Master's degree or PhD preferred.

- Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in Design, Product Engineering, or Applications, Development or Product Engineering.

- Proficiency performing full field RF simulation using HFSS.

- Working knowledge of SI tools such as AWR or Advanced Design System (ADS)

- Proficiency making on wafer measurements using wafer probers RF instrumentation such as VNA/PNA in a lab environment.

- Strong working knowledge of RF calibration techniques.

- Experience performing semiconductor device modeling measurements is highly desired.

- Familiarity with IC and/or PCB layout tools.

- Knowledge of semiconductor wafer sort or final test is a plus.

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

- Ability to lead others through influence.

- Demonstrated ability to manage projects to completion on-time and on-budget.

- Demonstrated success working both independently and in a team.

- Willingness to travel up to 5% both domestically and internationally.
