Job Description:

Job Summary:
Under general supervision, effectively performs duties necessary to provide security for company assets and personnel, support production and business objectives. Coordinates emergency response and crisis management and verifies access control for all personnel and vehicles.

Job Description:

• Controls all traffic entering and leaving the facility by checking employee badges, viewing security office monitors and issuing visitor/contractor badges and logging in as needed.  This includes all truck traffic in and out of facility as per specific procedures.


• Conducts foot patrols as instructed in accordance with Post Orders and turning building burglar alarms on/off as required.  Raises and lowers the flag in front of Retail Store.  Documents any incidents, security breaches and safety issues found during patrol on Miscellaneous Incident Report.  May perform shift lead duties on any given day depending on seniority.


• Responds to fire, burglar and duress alarms and calls for security and medical assistance as needed.  Tasked with implementing the Crisis Management Plan if necessary.


• Conducts and documents monthly inspections of all fire extinguishers, fire hoses and automatic fire protection systems, BDG Facility Safety Hazard Identification/Inspection Checklist, conducts evacuations drills and inspects emergency eyewash stations as directed.


• Responsible for routine clerical tasks in accordance with standardized procedures.

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS                                                                      

Minimum level of education required 

• High School Diploma or GED       

Minimum number of year(s) of experience required in addition to education plus type(s) of functional experience

• 3 years  of security officer, military, or law enforcement experience

Other required type(s) of functional experience (e.g. Production/Operations, Accounting, Forklift Operator, Inventory Control, etc.)

• Must have good communication skills and the ability to interface with drivers, customers and others that come to Blue Diamond.


• Must be able to interact with all levels of internal and external customers, contractors and employees, resulting in positive working relationships.


• Basic computer and CCTV skills are required.


• Must be able to read, interpret and articulate company policies and instructions.


• Must be knowledgeable and recognize crisis management alarms and situations (fire, intrusion, machinery malfunction), provide direction and perform follow-up actions.

• Current BSIS Guard Card certification required.


• Required to wear of a security uniform. 


• Required to Carry and use a two-way radio.


• Required to use a cellular phone and other types of phones. 


• Basic computer skills required.

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCES (Specialized education, specific software experience, etc.)

• Understanding of HACCP processes, Good Manufacturing Procedures (GMPs) and safety practices.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Must be able to physically move throughout the facilities in all types of weather, including climbing multiple flights of stairs, ladders, elevated catwalks and tight access areas.  Able to work at a desk for extended periods preparing reports, etc., on the computer.  On call 24 hours a day for emergency situations.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Interior and exterior plant and office environment during all seasons.  Exposed to dust, high noise levels, extreme temperature and humidity fluctuations, and wet working conditions.
