DESCRIPTION

The Department of Global Studies at University of California, Santa Barbara invites applications for a pool of qualified temporary lecturers to teach courses in Global Studies for upcoming openings. Courses needed may include the following areas:

* Global History, Culture and Ideology
* Global Socioeconomic and Political Processes
* Global Culture and Ethics
* Global Ideologies and World Order
* Global Economy and Development

Screening of applicants is ongoing and will continue as needed. The number of positions varies from quarter to quarter, depending on the curricular needs of the department. Positions may range from 33% to 100%. The department is especially interested in candidates who can contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community through research, teaching and service.

Applicants must have completed all requirements for a PhD (or equivalent) except the dissertation in a related field at the time of application, with the PhD conferred by the anticipated appointment start date. In addition, applicants must have one or more years teaching experience. The Department accepts candidates with backgrounds in the social sciences, humanities, or interdisciplinary fields. Salary is based on UC s salary scales and depends on qualifications.
