Job Description:

An amazing new opportunity for an experienced Research and Development Laboratory Director has just been made available by a large healthcare system in the San Francisco Bay Area. 

The Regional Director of Laboratory in Research and Development will meet these minimum/required qualifications for consideration for this highly selective 200+ bed hospital. The Laboratory Regional Director of R&D will have obtained a PhD in Philosophy or an MD-PhD focusing in the following: Medicine, Chemistry, Microbiology or a related field.   

The Regional Director of Laboratory in Research and Development will have the chance to work for a highly respected hospital of more than 350 physicians, 3,000+ nurses, and other medical/professional staff. Working in the highly complex laboratory system, the R&D Laboratory Director will direct staff of PhD and Master’s level scientists to ensure clinical and technical oversight. Furthermore, the Laboratory Director of R&D will work cohesively with Physician Leadership informing them on clinical test processes, trial results and interpretations. 

The Regional Director of Laboratory in Research and Development will spearhead all aspects of the research and test development, while overseeing the validation activities and the education of staff. The R&D Lab Director will be compliant with all federal, state and local regulations and laws regarding clinical testing to help ensure appropriate testing and reporting of all lab specimens. 

In accordance, the Lab Director of Research and Development will research, develop and implement laboratory procedures, techniques diagnostic tests and analytical methods for numerous genetic disorders and sample types. Above all else, the Regional Director of Laboratory in Research and Development will direct, hire, and train the R&D staff leading by example. In doing so, the R&D Lab Director will help develop the professional growth of their team, ensuring the highest respect on a national and international scientific community.
