JOB DESCRIPTION:


  • Develops, implements, and directs policies, procedures, and activities related to the provision of respiratory care services.

  • Plans and administers budget, supervises staff, and resolves issues affecting daily operations.

  • Develops and implements strategic goals and objectives to maintain high quality services.

  • Serves as a resource and consultant to other Hospital departments and Medical staff for respiratory-related communications and issues.

  • Plans, administers and monitors the department's capital equipment, operations, and personnel budgets; regularly reviews year to date and prior year expenditures; investigates variances and takes corrective action as necessary.

  • Develops departmental short and long term goals and objectives.

  • Meets with internal and other staff members to discuss progress and to develop future courses of action.

  • Analyzes departmental strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and constraints.

  • May serve on, hold office in, or chair committees. Establishes, revises, administers and communicates departmental policies, procedures and related forms in accordance with state, federal, and organizational guidelines.

  • Communicates and monitors compliance with regulatory, licensing and accreditation standards.

  • Manages staff and employee performance.

  • Resolves Human resourcerelated issues, determines staffing needs, interviews and hires staff.

  • Provides on-going performance feedback, addresses problems, orients and trains employees, verifies competency and identifies and suggests ways to develop skills.

  • Determines disciplinary, termination and salary actions.

  • Monitors and directs workflow.

  • Coordinates clinical rotations for Respiratory Care within the hospital.

  • Collaborates with hospital administration and other department directors to identify and resolve administrative or operational issues.

  • Resolves complaints, grievances and other issues affecting operations.

  • Administers a quality improvement program; monitors and evaluates quality improvement and productivity activities to meet the regulatory and legal standards governing respiratory care services.

  • In compliance with applicable regulations, directs data collection, storage, analysis, and operational and statistical reporting activities for management and regulatory agencies.

  • Maintains open and respectful communications with other hospital staff, vendors, and other associates to assure that the work environment is conducive to each worker's best performance.

  • Serves as a resource within the hospital for issues and communications related to respiratory care.

  • Assesses needs and develops and implements staff development and training and in-service programs as appropriate.

  • Performs other related duties as required.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A bachelor's degree in Respiratory Therapy or related field.

  • Registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care.

  • Seven years of experience in Respiratory Care of which four years is in an administrative or supervisory role in a Respiratory Care department.

  • Licensed as a Respiratory Care Professional (RCP) in the State of Georgia.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS (MediumMax 25lbs): up to 25 lbs, 0-33% of the work day (occasionally); 11-25 lbs, 34-66% of the workday (frequently); 01-10 lbs, 67-100% of the workday (constantly); Lifting 25 lbs max; Carrying of objects up to 25 lbs; Occasional to frequent standing & walking, Occasional sitting, Close eye work (computers, typing, reading, writing), Physical demands may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks.


    ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS: Factors affecting environment conditions may vary depending on the assigned work area and tasks. Environmental exposures include, but are not limited to: Blood-borne pathogen exposure Bio-hazardous waste Chemicals/gases/fumes/vapors Communicable diseases Electrical shock , Floor Surfaces, Hot/Cold Temperatures, Indoor/Outdoor conditions, Latex, Lighting, Patient care/handling injuries, Radiation, Shift work, Travel may be required. Use of personal protective equipment, including respirators, environmental conditions may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks.
