About the position:
ELLWOOD Texas Operations Director of Human Resources - Regional is primarily located in Houston, TX and travels regularly to each operating location. The role is a high level, strategic generalist that requires a strong Human Resources (HR) background and proven track record managing the full spectrum of HR functions, including positive employee relations, performance management, benefits, recruitment, training and development, payroll, and workers’ compensation. The Director of Human Resources ensures compliance with state and federal regulations and company policies and procedures. This role directly manages an HR Assistant and provides HR support for the 100+ ELLWOOD Texas Forge-Houston (ETFH) and C&J Cladding (CJC) employees.
The role requires a “hands-on”/ “roll-up-your-sleeves” approach to work with, and through others on the ELLWOOD Texas Operations leadership team to develop people strategies, build a collaborative team focused on continuous improvement, maintain high employee engagement, and serves as a resource and coach to employees, supervisors and managers.

What you’ll do:


    • Own and lead the ETFH & CJC positive employee relations (PER) efforts to maintain a union-free status while collaborating with and support ELLWOOD’s corporate PER policy and philosophy.

    • Partner with President ELLWOOD Texas Operations to develop multi-year and annual people plan goals, includes strategic planning, succession planning, and resource allocation to support and drive business objectives.

    • Partner and collaborate with ETFH & CJC leaders to develop and implement relevant policies and procedures that foster a culture of engagement and accountability.

    • Responsible for all aspects of the employee lifecycle and administer HR programs, including, but not limited to, compensation, benefits, and leave; recruitment and hiring; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance management; employee engagement; occupational health and safety; workers compensation; and training and development.


    What you’ll need:

    • Bachelors’ degree in human resources, business, or related field

    • Ten or more years of human resources experience

    • Demonstrated experience in a human resources leadership and/or change management role

    • Experience using HRIS technology

    • Professional certification, e.g. SPHR a plus


    ETFH is a Federal Contractor and requires all employees to be U.S. Citizens or hold a valid Green Card.
