Position Description:
Superior Tube Company in Collegeville, PA has an exciting opportunity to join a global supplier of high-performance alloy precision tubular products with customers from a diverse range of markets including the Aerospace, Energy, Oil & Gas, and Medical markets.

The plant manufactures highly engineered and produced-to-order tubes across hundreds of pieces of metal working and annealing equipment. The Process Improvement Engineer is the perfect position for a motivated, hands-on quality professional with an interest in expanding their career. This position reports to the Manager of Manufacturing Engineering and Quality Assurance and will work closely with Operations, Quality, Product Development and Customer Service teams in the identification, evaluation, and execution of process improvements

This technical position is responsible for performing engineered assessments of current manufacturing process operations and sequences and executing improvement opportunities in accordance with established Company and customer requirements. In addition, qualified candidate will be able to lead process improvement projects utilizing Lean Manufacturing and other continuous improvement methodologies to further the manufacturing capabilities of the organization. The position will also involve interfacing with external customers for the purposes of developing, executing, and validating effective processing routines.

Responsibilities:
• Supports operation team in establishing a safe work environment.
• Improves manufacturing processes and methods for cost-reduction, yield/quality improvement, set up reduction, and efficiency.
• Assists in improving a system of production control, standard operating procedures, safety, quality control and training through working with operations teams to ensure all process operations and steps are thoroughly documented.
• Performs research, design and development of manufacturing processes including production flow, assembly methods and production equipment.
• Supports the manufacturing launch of new/revised products including establishing goals, training team members and evaluating results.
• Supports design, development and tests and/or sources and cost-justifies various tools, machinery, equipment for recommended manufacturing methods, including process related capital projects.
• Performs product/process analysis for cost reduction, quality improvement, and improved efficiency.
• Develops process routes for products within planning/scheduling system,
• Supports commercial team in providing feedback to customers with regard to continuous improvement or corrective action activities,
• Initiates and leads continuous improvement activities
• Represents manufacturing on cross-functional teams

Position Requirements:
Education Required: Bachelors Degree in Materials Science or Mechanical Engineering

Experience/skills required:
• 2-5 years experience in a metals manufacturing facility,
• Demonstrated experience in using lean or other continuous improvement tools
Experience/skills preferred:
• 5-10 years experience in a metals manufacturing facility
• Certification - Six Sigma Green/Black Belt or Lean Manufacturing
• Preferred knowledge of tube manufacturing processes
