Job Description:

High Transit LLC is the specialty hauler for the affiliated companies of High Industries Inc. The company also partners with other hauling companies to provide specialty services for customers in the civil construction, transportation & building construction, manufacturing, Marcellus Shale, and heavy equipment industries. We are currently hiring for an Transportation Operations Manager.


The Transportation Operations Manager plans, organizes and directs the operation of specialty hauling to meet the needs of the customer, achieve the annual business plan, grow sales to third party customers and maximize profitability for the Company. This position is located at the High Steel Structures main office in Lancaster, Pa.


Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree preferably in Business or Engineering discipline.

  • Minimum of five (5) years in Operations Management, preferably in a related industry to High Transit.

  • Experience with DOT regulations for permitting over dimension, overweight loads and driver hours of service/logs.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and ERP systems.

Job Functions:



  • Directs and coordinates hauling operations performed by High Transit, LLC. 

  • Creates engagement with teams of professional over-the-road truck drivers.

  • Financial management of shipping projects, including both establishing estimating parameters and processes, and maintaining forecast of final cost at completion.

  • Engage in the selling process and improve the profitability and consistency of third-party sales. Assists in the investigation, development and coordination of revenue producing opportunities for the High Transit, LLC fleet.

  • Effectively communicates corporate issues to employees of a single business unit nested among multiple affiliates.

  • Responsible for creating department expense budgets, and successfully managing expenses to stay within fixed budgets and/or budgets that are flexed on operational variables.

  • Competent to read key elements of financial statements in support of functional role responsibilities.

  • Maintains accurate projections of actual cost at completion during a long-running project. Develops shipping plans in accordance with the estimated cost parameters and when necessary, advises Estimating of requirements to increase/decrease costs due to changes in rules and/or regulations.

  • Responsible for ensuring safe operations as well as compliance with all OSHA regulations, all applicable laws, and High Industries’ Corporate Policies.

  • Effectively train, supervise, coach and evaluate all direct reports utilizing performance planning, monthly one-on-one’s and participative management to foster good communications and morale.

  • Responsible for effective implementation of quality system components including procedural training, quarterly internal audits, annual employee qualification assessments, and monthly statistical analysis.

  • Reviews operational key performance measures monthly as well as benchmarking data to drive any required correctional or improvement strategies.

  • Responsible for development of Annual Operations Budget/Capital Plan as well as the Annual Update to the Operations Strategic Planning process including conceptualization, plan development and implementation.

  • Responsible for ongoing Process Analysis of Operational systems, procedures, and staffing to drive continuous improvement in operating efficiencies.

  • Support the Policy Deployment and Continuous Improvement Process.

  • Attends various meetings including: Management Team, Monthly Forecast, Quality Team and Safety Committee representing Operations-related interests.

  • Perform other duties, projects or special studies as directed by the President of High Transit LLC.
