Scope of the Position
The internship in Discovery Biology aims to build and extend on the academic knowledge of qualified individuals who wish to apply theory learned in the classroom to an industry setting. The candidate will have the opportunity to work closely with scientists and associated scientists in Obesity Research to identify compounds or genes that influence lipid droplet content and function of differentiated adipocytes. The candidate will be trained in maintenance, differentiation and genetic manipulation of adipocytes, and perform assays within the cellular metabolic space, including but not limited to high content image analysis and qPCR.

Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in an accredited four-year college or university pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in biology, genetics, molecular biology, biochemistry or related science discipline
- Previous experience in a laboratory setting is preferred
- Strong academic record with a preferred cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
- Conscientious self-starter with good organizational skills, project management skills and attention to detail
- Ability to balance multiple projects and priorities, must be able to multi-task
- Strong interpersonal communication and ability to collaborate with teams; must effectively operate independently, across functional lines, and with internal customers
- Demonstrated personal initiative, self-motivation, flexibility, adaptability and willingness to learn
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Tools including Word, Excel, PowerPoint
