Summary:

This is a supportive role and the candidate may have entry level experience for this position. This position supports the senior science writer with secondary support to Clinical Affairs, R&D, internal clinical trials, biostatistics & Global Access teams. This position is responsible for supporting the Senior Science writer in managing, tracking external publications and/or writing Dexcom publications. The position will become an expert on the medical literature related to Diabetes, CGM and Dexcom products. This position will report to the Senior US Medical Writer and will be tasked with supporting the work of other departments under the direction of the Senior Medical Writer.

Functional Description: Professional Individual Contributor

Researches, writes and edits pre-clinical and/or clinical reports, summarizing data from pre-clinical and/or clinical studies. Prepares clinical reports, summary documents, package inserts and other documents that may be submitted to the Food and Drug Administration and the World Health Organization for publication and/or presentation. Assists in the development of formats and guidelines for clinical documentation. May prepare scientific manuscripts, abstracts and posters. May also support clinical research associates and medical doctors in clinical protocol development. Keeps abreast of professional information and technology through conferences.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:


  • Support the Dexcom publication committee

  • Collaborate directly with Senior Medical writer to meet corporate and publication goals

  • Support and direct cross functional work through the Publication Process

  • Develop and support Dexcom abstracts, posters, letters to editor, and manuscripts

  • Conduct or manage literature reviews

  • Catalogues manuscripts and abstracts

  • Manages a citation database to support cross functional access to appropriate literature

  • Writes, review, edit, update and/or supports Dexcom dossiers

  • Collaborates with study team to develop, track and support external study publications

  • Supports external vendors/ graphic designers to develop impactful posters

  • Other Duties and Responsibilities:




    • Writes and/or supports development of grant requests

    • Develops Power Point presentations based on technical literature for internal and external use

    • Collaborate with Biostatistics to develop documents and presentations

    • Other duties related to clinical writing support as needed such as providing assistance with:

      • Clinical Trial Protocols

      • Annual Reports

      • clinical reports





Required Qualifications:

  • Experience in performing literature reviews is essential.

  • Expertise in Power Point and other presentation formats.

  • Knowledge and experience with citation software is required (eg: Endnote, Xotera, etc).

  • Working and expert knowledge with medical databases such as EMBASE and PUBMED required along with ability to research and reference documentation when required.

  • Ability to manage competing projects in a dynamic environment is a requirement.

  • Strong computer skills with Excel, Power Point, and Word are essential.

  • Knowledge of diabetes, glucose monitoring and/or experience within the diabetes industry is desirable

  • Mandatory 2 years technical writing experience, higher education degrees may be considered with less experience.

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Formal training in technical writing is highly desirable

  • Experience in diabetes preferred with prior exposure to CGM strongly preferred.

  • Prior experience in scientific/medical writing preferred but may consider education in lieu of experience.

Experience and Education Requirements:


  • Typically requires a Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 2-5 years of related experience.

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in a science- or health-related field, is required. MS or PhD (or equivalent) also preferred.

Travel Required:

  • Up to 25%
