A Project Engineer provides daily field support for a project team, including: scheduling, planning work tasks, survey and layout, procurement, site logistics, administrative tasks, cost accounting and forecasting, quantity tracking and reporting, technical interpretation of project requirements, coordination of subcontractors/vendors/suppliers.
Essential Job Functions
Prepares forecasts for job costing
Reviews project proposal or plan to determine time frame, funding limitations, procedures for accomplishing project, staffing requirements, and allotment of available resources to various phases of project
Prepares and submits contractor/subcontractor shop drawings
Evaluates and approves design changes, specifications, and drawing releases
Attends client/contractor meetings
Follows company and work site safety policies/procedures and commits to an “Incident and Injury Free” work environment
Supervisory Responsibilities
Directly supervises Staff Engineers. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, training employees, planning, assigning, directing work and appraising performance, disciplining employees, and addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Requirements
3+ years of construction project engineer experience
Graduate of a four-year accredited college or university program in one of the following disciplines: Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, Engineering Technology, Building Construction, or Building Science.
Experience in marine construction, heavy civil construction, drydock/shipbuilding operations, or related field is preferred.
Must be willing to travel.
Valid US driver’s license
Excellent personal and communication skills.
Self-motivated.
Proficient in Microsoft Office and Auto CAD
This position requires fluent use of the verbal and written English language
Physical Requirements
Ability to navigate project sites, which may include walking, climbing, bending
Ability to work in extreme hot and cold weather conditions
75-100% of time will be working outside walking the jobsite, getting on equipment
