Requisition Summary

This position is located within the Advanced Controls organization at PTC and involves developing and evaluating control systems for next-generation commercial vehicle technologies.  This includes analysis and optimization of advanced technologies including electrified powertrains, ADAS, and advanced powertrain operational strategies, and transfer of these technologies to production programs.  Additional responsibilities include interfacing with PACCAR divisions; Embedded Engineering, Kenworth, Peterbilt and DAF.

Division Information

The PACCAR Technical Center provides engineering excellence to the truck, engine, and winch divisions of PACCAR Inc through innovative product development and testing.This position is located in beautiful Skagit Valley - Mount Vernon, WA.

Job Functions / Responsibilities

• Systems engineering for development of advanced vehicle systems including electrified powertrain, Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), and advanced powertrain operational strategies.


• Create functional and design requirements for electric powertrains, energy management and battery management systems.


• Participate in the design of functionally safe architectures, control strategies, test plans and validation methods, for new vehicle mechatronic systems.


• Develop HIL testing methods and implement HIL designs for new control systems.


• Prove and optimize control strategies using SIL, HIL, system, and vehicle testing.


• Communicate results and recommendations to team and stakeholders on a regular basis and cooperate with cross-divisional counterparts.


• Keep abreast of emerging technologies, tools, and methods.


• Transfer advanced control strategies to production programs at relevant PACCAR divisions.

Qualifications

• 5 years’ experience in automotive systems engineering focused on electrified vehicles and/or powertrain systems.


• Experience with rapid control system development.


• Strong background in CAN and J1939.


• In-depth knowledge of system engineering tools (e.g. Simulink, Mathworks Embedded Software Tools, and dSpace).


• Knowledge of 1-D simulation tools (eg. AVL Cruise, GT-Power, or Simulink).


• Demonstrated skills developing and optimizing control strategies on vehicles.


• Previously demonstrated strong technical knowledge, analysis, and communication skills.


• Strong interpersonal skills, be a self-starter and have demonstrated high levels of initiative and innovation.

Education

Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Engineering Physics
Master’s degree preferred
