Position Summary


  • Position is located in Wheeling, IL and will report directly to the Quality Manager

  • This position is considered to be a full time 1st shift position (6am – 3:30pm)

  • Quality Inspector will be required to work overtime and some weekends

  • Will be responsible for performing visual and dimensional measurement inspections, non-destructive product testing and use hand held gauges

  • Will be responsible for receiving incoming materials from suppliers

  • Will be responsible for dispositioning incoming material 

  • Will be responsible for completing any and all inspection documentation for all incoming material

 

Key Job Responsibilities included but not limited to:


  • Incoming Receiving Inspection: Complete incoming receiving inspection transactions per print or job routing requirements; this includes dimensional and visual inspection activities.  Ensure all required documentation is received, readable and complete all Oracle transactions as required. Will also be required to then physically move material to its next operation per the job routing instructions. Report all non-conformances using the MRB Table process.

 


  • Production & Assembly Support: Support machining and assembly personnel as requested with inspection activities and internal non-conformance investigations.  Document all support on the appropriate forms provided for traceability and dispositioning. Will be responsible for passing or rejecting parts.

 


  • Communication: Communicate to supervisor and others on a daily basis using verbal and written communications of any and all issues that arise on the shop floor or QC Lab.

 


  • Quality Improvement: Work with Quality Dept. personnel, machinists, assemblers, and vendors to improve product quality.

 


  • Cleanliness: Maintain cleanliness of inspection area, QC Lab, Final Inspection Area, and receiving area. 

 

Job Requirements:


  • Experience using measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, bore/pin gauges, etc.)

  • Learn and maintain knowledge of documentation required to meet certain customer and Destaco standards

  • Work closely with production staff to solve quality problems and answer questions

  • Must have a solid understanding of GD&T specifications & blueprint reading

  • Must have good computer skills with Microsoft Office and Oracle training.

  • Capable of managing and completing multiple tasks accurately and expeditiously

  • Self-motivated with the ability to prioritize and complete work with a sense of urgency

  • Ability to lift 50lbs

 

Experience:


  • 2+ years of experience working with Oracle programs

  • Fork truck driving experience

  • Exerperince working in a tight tolerance machined metal shop

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities


  • High energy, strong interpersonal skills, prefers to work in team environment and is capable of managing stressful situations with a positive attitude

  • Strong communication skills

  • Flexible and must learn quickly

  • Interest in future career development

  • Knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 requirements preferred

 

Education & Certification Qualifications

  • High School Degree
