Intervention Specialist at COMMUNITY SOLUTIONS INC in Bridgeport, Connecticut

Job Description:

Community Solutions, Inc. is looking for a dedicated and passionate individual to join our team as an Intervention Specialist at our Bridgeport location working Monday and Wednesday 12pm-8pm and Tuesday, Thursday and Friday 9am-5pm. You will be a part of a team helping to guide clients in their development and assist them to become a positive influence in the community. You will be preparing, planning and facilitating group and individual training sessions. You will also conduct client assessments as needed.

Community Solutions Inc. (CSI) is a nonprofit organization that promotes the responsible citizenship, accountability, and well-being of individuals and families involved, or at risk of involvement, in the child welfare, juvenile justice, or criminal justice system. Since CSI’s founding in 1962, it has been a pioneer in the community-based service. We have been delivering supervision, treatment, and comprehensive individualized services to help clients interact more effectively in their communities and become productive citizens. Using this plan we built the first ever halfway house in New England which has now been replicated and grown to almost 50 programs in 10 states. For over 50 years, CSI has been building upon its successful foundations and has been expanding its services to serve thousands of adults, youth, and families each year..

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:


  • Prepare, plan and facilitate individual and group training sessions with integrity and fidelity to curriculum/manual. Conduct make-up sessions as needed.

  • Meet with clients individually to ensure understanding of content of services.

  • Monitor client behaviors and implement program behavior management system on a consistent basis.

  • Remain current on research and literature reviews with “what works” in changing offender behavior and recidivism reduction.

  • Serve as a role model to clients and staff modeling pro-social behaviors.

  • Assist in the development and implementation of Individual Service Plans.

  • Conduct client assessments as needed.

  • Provide timely and accurate file documentation.

  • Participate in quality assurance review of groups and client sessions.


  • Bachelor’s degree in a social science field and one year experience in social services or similar field. Education may be substituted with experience on a year for year basis.

  • One year experience in teaching, training and/or group facilitation preferred

  • Excellent oral, written and interpersonal skills desired.

  • Experience with Microsoft Office.
