Mold Setter

I.                JOB DESCRIPTION

Department:    Manufacturing

Location:        Durham & Hazlehurst

Reports to:      Supervisor, Maintenance

 

II.             STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

To pull and set molds as directed to meet production requirements and to record data on molds as required

III.           RESPONSIBILITY FOR WORK OF OTHERS

None

IV.           BUSINESS COMMUNICATION

Must be able to communicate effectively with co-workers, supervisors and managers.

V.              SUPERVISION REQUIRED

Limited supervision.

 

1. EDUCATION REQUIRED

One year certificate from college or technical school; or equivalent combination of education and experience.    

 

• TRAINING AND SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED

Good mechanical aptitude; ability to troubleshoot.

VIII.      EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

Three to six months related experience and/or training preferred.

IX.           TRAVEL REQUIRED

None.

 

1. SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Pull and set injection and blow molds.


• Clean molds as required or as requested by maintenance supervisor.


• Set up machines to give maximum production with the least amount of waste.


• Set up and cycle all new molds.


• Do daily cycle time reports, waste inspection, mold inspection, machine inspection and chiller waterline inspection.


• Ensure all mold curtains and skirts are in place on a daily inspection.


• Do all sample material runs and provide appropriate information.


• Provide supervisors with information on how to run new molds.


• Work overtime as required.


• Report potential safety problems to the department supervisor and maintain a clean work area.


• Maintains a regular and reliable level of attendance.


• Interacts with co-workers in a cooperative and professional manner.


• Adheres to company policies and procedures.


• Other duties may be assigned.

1. PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.  The employee is occasionally required to sit.  The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

• WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts.  The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, but hearing protection may be required depending on the department where the employee is assigned.
