We are looking for a dynamic and passionate Registered Nurse—Infusion Services to join the Mountainside Team!
What You’ll Do
The Registered Nurse—Infusion Services is responsible for delivery of patient-centered care in an infusion outpatient setting utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Provides clinical services and leadership in the coordination and management of patients. The staff nurse assesses, plans, implements, evaluates, and supervises individual patient care according to unit policies and procedures. This individual will serve as the link between the patient, medical oncology, radiation oncology, and medical infusion.
The successful candidate will be able to:
Deliver advanced professional patient-centered care to adults diagnosed with a wide array of acute and chronic illnesses; including those receiving curative treatment, support for chronic disease, palliative treatment and end-of-life symptom management
Assess and document patient health status and identifies health care needs
Verify orders per protocol to validate drug dosage. Demonstrates knowledge of central venous access devices and their maintenance, mechanical controlling devices, blood and blood component therapy, including blood transfusion, autologous donor selection and collection, and therapeutic phlebotomy
Evaluate laboratory values correctly and notifies physician of abnormalities; assesses continuance of medication
Administer intravenous infusions and injections as ordered by the physician through established policies and procedures. Assesses patients intravenous therapy needs and inserts appropriate vascular access device accordingly
Collaborate with other professional disciplines to ensure effective and efficient patient care delivery and the achievement of desired patient outcomes
Provide instruction in the disease process to the patient and family. Emphasizes self-care measures to minimize side effects
Demonstrate proficiency in assessment skills, medication administration, pain management and other unit or initiative specific skills
Confer with Nursing Supervisors/Director as it relates to patient care outcomes
Document all patient care appropriately according to hospital and regulatory requirements
Collect patient’s health data and analyze assessment data in determining patient problems
Identify expected outcomes individualized to the patient
Evaluate patient’s progress toward attainment of outcomes
Conduct appropriate and ongoing education, assisting the patient/significant others to obtain knowledge about illness, treatments and wellness behaviors
Maintain confidentiality with all information
Perform any and all other duties as assigned
What You’ll Bring
Associate’s Degree in Nursing required, Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing preferred
Minimum of 1+ years’ experience as an RN in a hospital setting
Current valid NJ State Professional Registered Nurse License
Current BLS certification
ACLS certification and successfully completed ONS chemotherapy/biotherapy course and maintain ONS provider card or, to be completed within 6 months of employment
OCN or CRNI® (Preferred)
Excellent interpersonal, communication, team-work, and customer service skills
Strong organizational, problem-solving and follow-through skills
Ability to multi-task constantly, react to changes quickly/productively, and tolerate interruptions
Ability to work autonomously when necessary
Remain flexible, organized, professional and able to analyze, make sound decisions under stressful or crisis situations
Demonstrate knowledge of current computer systems, equipment or programs used in the organization, knowledge of Epic a plus!
