We are looking for a dynamic and passionate Central Processing Technician to join the Mountainside Team!

What You’ll Do

The Central Processing Technician will be responsible for the decontamination of instrumentation and equipment, preparation and packing of instrument trays, and the sterilization of instrumentation. 

The successful candidate will be able to:


  • Contain a strong knowledge base of instrumentation names and function of equipment

  • Perform decontamination, preparation and sterilization of medical equipment

  • Possess a strong familiarity with utilizing systems to locate and enforce manufacturers’ recommendations for use/cleaning

  • Maintain a strong working knowledge of sterile processing equipment including sterilizers, washers, and other technical equipment

  • Maintain, trouble shoot, and complete regulatory documentation related to all equipment utilized in the department

  • Report equipment concerns to Biomed or Facilities Management Departments as necessary

  • Validate equipment functionality with recommended testing such as biologicals, TOSI testing, temperature testing, and PH testing

  • Stock needed supplies in the department as well as specialty carts processed by Central Sterile Processing including: Crash Carts, Airway Boxes, and Urology and Chest Carts

  • Meet with Operating Room Team as needed to review schedule and instrumentation needs for upcoming days

  • Review Operating Room schedule and follow the surgical tracking board to efficiently turn around trays for surgical procedures

  • Perform any and all other duties as assigned


What You’ll Bring


  • Graduated from an accredited Central Sterile Processing training program and maintain certification.

  • Minimum of 1+ years’ experience in a hospital setting is preferred

  • Position requires fluency in English language to function in job environment appropriately

  • Good interpersonal, communication, team-work, and customer service skills

  • Strong organizational, problem-solving and follow-through skills, Ability to multi task and prioritize tasks

  • Ability to multi-task constantly, react to changes quickly/productively, and tolerate interruptions

  • Ability to perform work when no directions are given, and give directions to others

  • Remain flexible, organized, professional and able to analyze, make sound decisions under stressful or crisis situations

  • Demonstrate knowledge of current computer systems, equipment or programs used in the organization, knowledge of Epic a plus

  • Demonstrate maturity and accountability
