Howmet Fastening Systems is looking for a Maintenance Technician I - in our Maintenance department. Responsible for performing maintenance and repair of equipment. Interface with subcontractors in the repair of production and facility equipment. Specify and order required repair parts and supplies. Assure a safe and healthful workplace. Key Responsibilities:


  • Organize and monitor spare parts inventory and advise when spare parts need replacement.
  • Carry out preventative maintenance on production equipment.
  • Install and/or maintain varied types of machinery and other equipment as related to the heat treat facility.
  • Disassemble damaged or worn equipment/units, repair/replace defective components, reassemble and test.
  • Weld new, worn or broken machine parts.
  • Fabricate sheet metal products such as conveyor/pin chutes, chain/gear guards, stands, etc.
  • Plan and lay out work as necessary with a minimum amount of supervision.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work area.
  • Complete required company records and paperwork.
  • Check oil, water, fuel, and other fluids before operating machinery and equipment.
  • When performing any tasks involving hazardous chemicals or hazardous wastes, follow the regulations of the SPCC Plan, RCRA regulations and procedures in the Environmental Management System.
  • Demonstrate a knowledge of and commitment to learn manufacturing principles and techniques.
  • Ensure that all work activities are performed in accordance with established safety and environmental standards.
  • Maintains full compliance and conducts all activities in accordance with Company policies and procedures.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Skills:


  • Understand, read and write Standard English and perform shop math calculations.
  • Mechanical aptitude and ability.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, sketches and schematics. Use scales, vernier calipers, micrometers, and other gages.
  • Operate mobile equipment, power shears, benders, grinders, powered hand and machine tools and related equipment.
  • Perform arc and acetylene welding.
  • Identify components in manufacturers' maintenance and parts manuals.
Basic Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 1 years of experience in Industrial Maintenance.
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
  • This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status. ITAR defines U.S. person as an U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.
