Job Summary

The Oncology Associate Director, Global Medical Affairs Field Educationrole works closely with the Director, Global Medical Affairs Training & Development colleague to support all Field Medical Affairs/MSL training and certification relating to Eisai's marketed products, pipeline agents, collaborations and competitors. This position conducts innovative & customized (to region) training & certification sessions to prepare medical affairs personnel to enter into strategic and compliant discussions regarding medical/clinical, health economics and outcomes research data on Eisai products.

This position assumes a leadership role by assisting with various innovative projects and by teaching, coaching and mentoring less experienced MSLs in order to assist with their onboarding and continued development. In addition, the AD, FMA Education will support global MSL teams as needed by providing continuing oncology education and insight collection & exchange by establishing training and mentoring standards and a quarterly global MSL insight forum. This role creates an environment of accountability by communicating expectations, timelines and disseminating information for scientific training and certification.

Essential Functions


  • Conduct new hire global MSLs onboarding, field readiness, 90-day scientific training plan, scientific training and certification, lead Global MSL Mentorship Program/ MSL Capabilities, and train MSLs on global medical strategy.

  • Global MSL team's continuing education (disease states and data), including treatment landscape training, certification, experiential training, and launch/pre-launch training. Utilize MSL Disease State Leads at discretion as appropriate. Coach MSL teams in person and/or via virtual sessions. Insights and listening priorities training and review.

  • Provide additional non-didactic training (e.g. presentation skills, understanding clinical trial design) to supplement MSL development.

  • Collate, analyze & prepare actionable and strategic insights report. Lead Insights Forum, discussion with Sr. Management and Global MSL Town Hall/Networks. Distribute Insights reports within Eisai US Medical Affairs, Merck and Eisai Global Medical Affairs on a regular basis.

  • Work closely with Global MSL Leads, MSL Management, Medical Directors to determine strategic importance of medical data presented and insights collected in an effort to create insight and executive reports for global distribution & training.

  • Liaison between global clinical operations and MSL team to facilitate site selection and provide updated trial information to MSL teams. Liaison between MSLs and global medical director for IIS concept discussion.

  • When necessary, travel to Medical Conferences, MSL HQ and training meetings

  • Work with Global MSL Operations & Education colleague to manage the Global MSL projects budget by forecasting & prioritizing projects to assist with internal training and scientific exchange via the use of PMRC approved slide decks

  • Work closely with Global MSL Operations & Education colleague and global publications to determine when important Eisai data will be presented at US meetings in an effort incorporate into internal training and MSL coverage at the meeting

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and other ethical guidelines relevant to the pharmaceutical industry, and to ensure compliance with Eisai policies & procedures and standard operating procedures



Requirements


  • Advanced terminal degree (MD, PharmD, PhD) in medical/biosciences.

  • Minimum of 5 years of oncology disease management knowledge in the therapeutic areas of interest to Eisai.

  • Minimum of 5 years MSL experience in the therapeutic areas of interest to Eisai.

  • Strong broad based scientific and pharmaceutical knowledge, as well as, excellent presentation and teaching skills.

  • Strong overall written and verbal communication skills.

  • Must have thorough knowledge and experience within Eisai desired therapeutic area(s); comfortable and confident speaking about multiple drug indications/disease state management and competitor products and data.

  • Thorough understanding of the pharmaceutical corporate environment and appreciation for Commercial Operations including Marketing and Sales strategic interests.

  • Understanding and ability to effectively communicate the role and value provided by Medical Science Liaisons and Medical & Scientific Affairs.

  • Ability to motivate and teach team members without a direct reporting relationship.

  • Demonstrated ability to think critically, analyze situations and achieve goals.

  • Excellent computer skills including power point, word & excel.

  • Ability to safely and successfully operate a motor vehicle is required.

  • Ability to travel up to 50% of the time (US & Globally).
