Requisition Summary


This position is located within the Advanced Technology Evaluation organization at PTC and involves executing advanced technology evaluation projects.  Responsibilities include development of next-generation electrified vehicle, powertrain, and engine systems for next-generation commercial vehicles.  Deliverables include: advanced controls engineering support, results analysis, proof-of-concept demonstrations, and reporting according to the PACCAR Technology Readiness Level Process.  Additional responsibilities include interfacing with divisions (Kenworth, Peterbilt, PIC, DAF, PACCAR Parts and ITD), and with external research and engineering organizations that are partnered with PACCAR.

The PACCAR Technical Center provides engineering excellence to the truck, engine, and winch divisions of PACCAR, Inc. through innovative product development and testing.  The Technical Center is located in the Skagit Valley about 65 miles north of Seattle, Washington.

Job Functions / Responsibilities



  • Work with a highly functional group of experts that can facilitate a wide array of proof-of-concepts to allow a fair evaluation of the maturity level and readiness of new technologies

  • Design architectures and control strategies to support proto vehicle / powertrain / component testing

  • Keep abreast of emerging technologies, tools, and methods.

  • Perform a mix of technical and project management activities to execute technology evaluation projects

  • Plan and manage research, analysis, testing, and documentation

  • Communicate results and recommendations to team and stakeholders on a regular basis

  • Participate in the continuous improvement of PACCAR’s TRL process and related tools

Qualifications



  • 5 years’ experience with automotive controls, simulation and rapid controls prototyping

  • Background in electrical and electronic systems

  • In-depth knowledge of system engineering tools (e.g. Matlab Simulink, National Instruments, dSpace).

  • Demonstrated strong technical knowledge, analysis, communication, design, testing, and troubleshooting skills

  • Quickly learn new technologies / Understand complex system designs

  • Experience managing technical projects

  • Strong interpersonal skills, be a self-starter and have demonstrated high levels of initiative and innovation.

Education



  • Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Engineering Physics

  • Master’s degree preferred
