Software Engineer Intern

This position provides an opportunity to transition from other private, public, government or military environments to a 3M career.
 

The internship position is a temporary position within 3M. Interns typically work a full-time schedule of 40 hours a week throughout a 10-14-week assignment starting in May of 2021.

As Software Engineer Intern you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:

• Build software components based on requirements, architecture and design specifications


• Directly impact customers by contributing to our conversational AI platform


• Collaborate with other software architects, software engineers, quality engineers, and other team members to solve problems and build innovative software solutions.


• Rapidly develop prototypes as proof of concepts for your own ideas


• Communicate status with supervisors and teammates

Your Skills and Expertise 

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree or higher (verified prior to start) from an accredited institution


• Experience with programming in Java

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science (or a related field) from an accredited institution


• Current cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale


• Completed a minimum of junior year (6 semesters) by the start of the assignment


• Ability to demonstrate understanding of algorithms, data structures and other factors that affect code quality and performance


• Familiarity with basic Natural Language Processing techniques

Location: Internships will be based remotely.
