General Dynamics Information Technology, a Federal marketplace leader in next-generation IT solutions and professional services, is seeking a highly qualified Solutions Architect in support of an upcoming program for the Department of Education focused on the modernization, operations and maintenance of systems supporting the Federal Student Aid (FSA) systems to improve operational flexibility and operational efficiency to allow over 13 million students to achieve their higher education goals.
Responsibilities and Duties
Responsible for high-level, complex solution development, architecture and management processes from concept ideation through development, launch and maintenance.
Works closely with government stakeholders regarding vision and strategy, technology innovations and ensures modernization solutions align with client architectural requirements and process standards
Leads holistic solution development for customer initiated changes, engaging with all program components to develop a complete solution offering.
Works independently to evaluate and prototype custom and third party solutions to fit within the organization and improve customer experience
Interfaces with modernization/development team, to develop and grow solutions and portfolios of solutions and service offerings and to increase productivity
Leads research initiatives of existing business environment including trends, best practices and organization preferred architectural frameworks to ensure organization's services match business trends. Suggests appropriate upgrades or relevant solutions to enhance organization's competency in meeting changing business needs.
Maintains strong and collaborative vendor relationships
Develop presentations and ad-hoc white papers for senior leadership and stakeholders, including Government customer to gain the essential support for engagements for successful implementation of new technologies and enhancements to existing technologies.
Define and develop architectural roadmap to meet business goals and modernization solutions
Passion for continuous innovation to improve productivity and stakeholder satisfaction
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, software engineering, or related field
10+ years experience developing IT solutions
AWS Cloud certification
Ability to communicate technically complex concepts to none technical stakeholders
Demonstrated experience with re-engineering and architecting application migrations from mainframe to a cloud platform
Ability to obtain a Public Trust 6C Background Investigation approval
Desired Qualifications
Experience implementing any of the following capabilities:
Agile & Lean principles & methodologies for application development
ITSM Automation & Orchestration
Big data analytics, data warehousing, data lak
Large scale cloud migration (application, data, infrastructure)
Strong, articulate communication skills knowing the right level of technical detail to include for multiple audiences (executives, vendors, contractors)
Knowledge of common application design patterns in regards to infrastructure impacts, such as SOA, web services, messaging, n-tier architecture
Familiarity with Information Security concepts and best practices
Travel
