Summary
Position Summary
The Speech and Language Pathologist—Developmental Disorders, performs speech and language assessments and provides individual and group speech and language services as a member of a multi-disciplinary team in the Developmental Disorders Service. These services will meet requirements in accordance with IEP, behavior and treatment plans, as required. The Speech and Language Pathologist—Developmental Disorders has specific training and experience in supporting the communication needs of individuals with developmental disorders, including augmentative and assistive communication. The Speech and Language Pathologist—Developmental Disorders will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team which includes special education teachers, psychologists, behavior analysts, occupational therapists, speech and language pathologists, physical therapists, psychiatrists, and nurses to design and provide services that support the achievement of academic, behavioral, and daily living goals of students in accordance with the Individual Treatment Plan, IEP and/or behavior support plan.
Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities (KSAs)
Education: Master’s degree in Speech and Language or related field.
License/Certifications: ASHA certified Speech Language Pathologist licensed in the State of Maine.
Experience: Experience working with individuals with developmental disorders, including children with autism and intellectual disability. 2+ years of experience as a Speech and Language Pathologist.
Facility with social skills teaching and behavior support strategies required
DOE fingerprinting required
Must display strong interpersonal, planning, and analytical skills, professionalism, and maturity
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to adapt readily to change, work flexibly within a team, and work within a fast-paced environment
Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel required
Pediatric Experience preffered
