Golder is seeking a Civil Designer to work with a spatial information team in our Manchester, New Hampshire office. In this role, you will have the opportunity work with colleagues on a range of projects to build detailed designs, redesigns, and edits, while working from sketches, key plans, and verbal instructions to produce the final design.

Responsibilities of the role will include:


  • Data Application

    • Review databases, sequences, and descriptors to identify data issues for project engineers
    • Read, interpret, and utilize topographic survey data, survey field notes, and engineering designs
    • Perform complex calculations, apply results to design for optimum results, and identify potential issues with the design

  • Design

    • Design 3D models/objects using multiple datasets to assist engineers with analysis of proposed designs
    • Create drawings from scratch using field notes, client data and other sources
    • Edit existing drawings and input field notes into drawing base plans for proposals, reports and presentations
    • Lead the drafting component on small/medium projects by understanding the correlation between drawings and resourcing CAD technicians to assist with completing project deliverable
    • Adhere to appropriate standards and procedures to ensure quality of results
    • Demonstrate efficiencies in quality assurance and control
    • Maintain and follow simple data management protocol

  • Teamwork, Mentorship and Supervision

    • May supervise and train junior employees
    • Carry out design and drafting work under the direction of more experienced Golder employees
    • Communicate availability to the team to seek work or assist other team members
    • Adhere to project timelines, budget and quality standards
    • Work with and support other Golder employees
    • Provide guidance/mentorship to junior colleagues
    • Display active engagement in technical communities

  • Commerciality

    • Proactively engage with internal clients, with supervisor oversight in broader work contexts, concerning project budget, scope and requirements to develop loyal client relationships
    • Initiate limited communication with external clients with supervision


Required:

  • Five years of relevant experience
  • Well-developed general technical skills with advanced use of related software applications
  • Understanding of design criteria and 3D modelling applications
  • Strong design skills utilizing AutoCAD Civil 3D 2017 or newer. An emphasis is on using modern and efficient tools and workflows within AutoCAD and Civil 3D is a priority
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work both independently and on teams
  • An active focus on health and safety

Desired:

  • Certificate/Diploma from an accredited Technical School or College in CADD/Engineering Technology
  • Other software experience, such as ArcGIS, InfraWorks, 3DSMax, Plant3D, Revit, and MicroStation
  • Land survey knowledge or experience
  • Field data collection software experience
