Job Description:


  1. Summary

This position is responsible for a variety of independent audits and complex inspections on incoming product and materials, first piece, in-process, and final inspection in various production departments.  Development of Audit related documentation with the support of Engineering and Product Managers.  Support the ISO/AS program through participation and auditing.  Audit parameters and course of action may be determined through independent action in addition to standard and routine inspections.  Work with all types of prints, specifications, procedures, and a variety of precision measuring instruments and test equipment.  Record inspection and test data.  Recognize when standard plans, tools and methods are inadequate and make revisions to same as appropriate. Make standardized reports as well as independent audits and analyses.  Determine best means of data handling should standard methods be inadequate.

$500 Relocation Bonus paid to employees that relocate after 90 days of employment at Fuller Industries.


  1. Essential Functions

 


  • Independently perform first piece, in-process, and final inspections and in various machining, fabricating, processing and assembly departments in accordance with established sampling plans, standardized procedures and supervisor’s instructions.  Determine if revised sampling or procedures should be employed.  Report audit results explaining whether production output conforms to Fuller Industries specifications. 

  • Perform physical inspection and testing on a wide variety of components and materials received from vendors.  Insure that materials inspected conform to Fuller Industries specifications, and that inspection and testing are performed in accordance with standard procedures or special instructions issued by supervisors. Build/provide new and improved methods and work instructions for approval by management. 

  • Communicate all non-conforming output or receipts to immediate supervisor and management.  Take steps to prevent use in production and/or stop production if necessary.  Perform rejections per procedures using physical and electronic system inputs and provide defensible data and conclusions of action.

  • Draft data capturing tools, methods and work instructions and gain approval of same through established policies.

  • Various data gathering, document development and record keeping includes but is not limited to:

    • Certification reports;

    • Inspection and  test results;

    • Rejection and Scrap Reports and Tagging;

    • Various quality charts;

    • Analysis

      • Process Validation/ Capability

      • Investigations into non-conformances

      • Root-cause analysis

      • Assist Management in development of new or revised production methods, or materials,


    • Accurately archive paper and electronic data file documentation 


  • Perform first article inspections according to customer requirements or AS9102 Standards

  • Knowledge of standardized sampling plans and Statistical Process Control techniques. 

  • Follow-up on all substandard work identified and check feasibility of salvage or rework prior to scrapping. Assist Production Supervisor or Engineering to set up rework plans and proper audits of such rework

  • Use a variety of inspection and test instruments, tools and equipment such as micrometers, fixed and adjustable gages, calipers, hardness testers, tension meters and special purpose instruments;

  • Perform and maintain Gauge/Tool Calibration System  (GageTrak Software)

  • Assist in the training of new inspectors;

  • Being present at work and adhering to assigned work schedule;

  • Work overtime when required.


  1. Knowledge and Education

Must be able to operate a variety of precision measuring instruments and test equipment.  Must be able to read and write effectively, work with complex arithmetic computations.  Understand complex and detailed verbal and written instructions.  High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required. A 2 or 4 year college degree preferred. Knowledge and training in ISO9001 Quality Management Standard and AS9100 Aerospace Quality Management Standard. Detailed knowledge of machines and common hand tools required. Proficient use of computer tools including spreadsheet, word processor, internet and email software.  Able to quickly learn specialized software and web portal systems provided by company, customers, vendors and contractors.   Knowledge of inventory control processes.


  1. Experience

4 years experience as a Quality Inspector or 4 years experience working in directly related field. 


  1. Working Conditions, and Hazards

Work is performed under generally good conditions with some machine noise, fumes, oil, and dirt present. Adequate lighting, ventilation and comfortable temperatures are present.

                  Exposure to usual minor shop injuries such as cuts bruises, burns and sprains are inherent in the job.  Some potential for more serious hazards; however, probability of serious injury will be minimized by adherence to established safety rules.
