Navos is currently seeking a 0.6 FTE (Day Shift) Registered Nurse for our Children's Long-Term Residential Program. The Sunstone RN will provide individualized, nursing services to child/adolescent clients within an inpatient residential treatment facility. Assist with providing and maintaining a therapeutic environment that supports the client's individualized treatment plans. Such support and assistance is provided in a way that helps empower the participant while maintaining a safe and effective milieu setting.



ABOUT THE PROGRAM: The Sunstone Children's Long-Term Inpatient Program (CLIP) serves youth ages 12-17 in an intensive inpatient mental health treatment program provided in a secure setting. CLIP is a treatment program for youth who present a risk to themselves or others or are gravely disabled due to mental health conditions.



WHAT YOU'LL DO:

* Ensure client's physical and oral health needs are met.

* Provide medical care and first aid on an as-needed basis.

* Provide physical assessments and treatment referrals; coordinating and communicating with physicians and outside providers as needed.

* Dispense, administer, or provide prescribed medications in accordance with the five rights of medication administration.

* Order medications (new, refill, special needs or emergency); document appropriately in medication administration review sheets (MARS) and client electronic medical record in alignment with agency policy and procedures.

* Capture, communicate and consider individual medication information when dispensing, administering or providing medication; Educate and train staff and clients on common side effects; Monitor and record side effects.

* Data enter client medications and significant health issues by the end of every shift for clients that accurately and concisely reflect overall behavior and interactions as observed. Chart notes must be written using respectful and objective language.

* Write monthly nursing assessment for each primary client and works with the client's team to incorporate health goals in daily client activities; regularly re-evaluate nursing care plan and diagnosis based on observation and data from other treatment team members.

* Ensure the overall health and safety of the clients on campus, out in the community, and during transport with safe driving.

* Implement and utilize agency approved crisis management interventions that may include verbal de-escalation, deflection, evasion, and physical restraint.

* Provide medical assessment during physical restraint and or seclusion; Evaluate client's medical status and communicate.

* Assist with training and other employee health issues; Assist with providing in-services on CPR, AIDS, first-aid, infection control; Assist in the administration of TB test, Hep B, and flu vaccinations.

* Monitor, order, and stock medical and pharmacy supplies; Fax orders and MARS weekly, auditing monthly; Maintain stock of gloves; Prepare physician order sheets for 30-day medication reviews.

* Work as a member of a multidisciplinary team, which typically includes treatment coordinators, unit supervisors, recreation therapists, residential counselors, and consulting psychiatrists to ensure all client treatment follows CLIP's treatment philosophies.

* Communicate with clients and family members to exchange relevant information regarding clients and share information with treatment teams and supervisors.

* Maintain client records in keeping with agency, county, contract and state guidelines.

* Support a system-wide understanding of trauma prevalence, impact and trauma informed care.

* Foster healing, hopeful, honest and trusting relationships for consumers and employees; Values consumer voice, choice and self-advocacy.

* Demonstrate a commitment to cultural competence.

* Promote a safe, calm and secure environment with supportive care and family-driven services that are trauma specific and promote recovery and wellness.



WHAT YOU'LL BRING:

* RN license in good standing with the Washington Department of Health, required (or the ability to obtain prior to starting).

* BSN minimum required OR or an active RN License with a signed agreement to complete the BSN within 3 years.

* One year nursing experience and/or experience working with youth/adolescents preferred.

* National Provider Identifier (NPI) or ability to obtain before your first day of employment.

* Current CPR & First Aide.

* Must be 21 years of age per state regulations.
