Responsibilities
Dematic has an immediate and exciting need for a Tax Manager in our NA Headquarters office located in Grand Rapids, MI. Key success indicators for this position are achieving Tax and operational objectives by managing and communicating key tax information/implications.
Reporting directly to the Director of Accounting and dotted line reporting to the Senior Director Global Tax this role will be responsible for:
Prepare quarterly and annual US Income tax provision calculations and assist in the quarterly reviews and annual audit undertaken by the company’s independent audit firm
Coordination and review of US Income and Franchise Tax Filing s and estimated tax payments
Lead contact for 3rd party tax advisors responsible for communication, coordination, and accountability
Develop and implement strategic tax planning for all necessary federal and state taxes
Plan for and develop overall return calendar and coordinate timing and inputs with the team
Maintain effective control procedures over all aspects of the tax process
Perform quarterly and annual US Income Tax special credit work
Manage and facilitate IRS income tax audits: preparing responses, creating schedules, defense strategies etc.
Monitor legislative and regulatory tax law developments, communicate the effects of these developments to leadership and create strategies to capitalize on changes to taxation legislation
Canada & Mexico Income tax assistance as needed
Support the North America Accounting department as needed
Annual completion of tax related IFRS to US GAAP conversion for stat reporting
Qualifications
Knowledge and Experience:
We are looking for a candidate with 5+ years of experience in a similar tax manager or public accountant role and at least 2 years of experience in a corporate management role. Preferred candidates have a current CPA license and a master’s degree in an accounting discipline.
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a similar field
Extensive corporate tax knowledge
Strong accounting, analytical, and research skills
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Strong knowledge of tax code, compliance and procedures for corporations
Familiarity with U.S. federal, state and local reporting requirements
Strong experience with a variety of tax operations and ability to drive process improvements
Strong ability to utilize project management and accounting best practices to organize and prioritize tasks and the tasks of other tax team members
Ability to work well independently as well as the ability to work well with stakeholders and communicate the benefits of tax initiatives
