Primary Role
Responsible for developing learning solutions for all American Water employees including office and field employees. Preparing employees with the knowledge and skills to conduct their work assignments safely and efficiently is the goal. The learning solution methods will vary based on employee needs. A combination of instructor-led, virtual instructor- led, e-Learning, job aids, electronic job aids, or support videos may be required. American Water is growing rapidly in terms of its use of technology and the Learning and Development team needs to keep pace by quickly developing easily accessible solutions at the right time.
Key Accountabilities
Designs, develops, and implements learning solutions leveraging various adult learning methodologies, including formal and informal training such as: hands-on, instructor led, virtual instructor-led, eLearning, mobile, audio/video, leaders as teachers, and social learning.
Works collaboratively with business leaders and subject matter experts to identify opportunities and recommend solutions to address learning needs.
Leads requirements gathering sessions and manages project tasks and deliverables. Delivers train the trainer sessions as required.
Provides thorough input to post implementation and support plans.
Provides input for learning assessments and tracks proficiency gains of employees using higher-level learning evaluation models (I.e. Kirkpatrick's five levels of evaluation).
Develops, delivers, and supports post-implementation refresher educational programs and materials.
Monitors trends and researches education/training related to emerging technologies, techniques and methodologies and shares information with colleagues to ensure ongoing improvement of educational programs, learning management systems, and other educational tools.
Knowledge/Skills
Ability to develop creative effective instructional programs
Demonstrated experience in the use of educational authoring tools, such as Captivate, Camtasia, Articulate Storyline, Vyond
Ability to deliver just in time learning solutions for fast-paced application development to include mobile applications
Proficient in use of MS Office Suite including Office 365 Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Manages effectively to timelines and due dates
Must possess advanced knowledge of adult learning theory and instructional design methodology (ADDIE or 6Ds).
General knowledge of the production of multimedia education such as edit and produce audio and video for e-learning, support videos and other web-based materials.
Strong knowledge of Learning Management Systems (LMS), Change Management
Experience/Education
Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of undergraduate education and specific relatable work experience in a relevant field such as instructional design or education/learning, human resource development, or an equivalent combination of education and related work experience. Adult learning and curriculum development certification preferred.
3+ years’ experience in Learning and Development, designing SCORM compliant eLearning and/or instructor led training.
