Job Summary
The Finance Manager, reporting to the President will support Northfield, an Oldcastle APG company, by recommending and driving financial strategies, objectives and policies in a dynamic fast-paced business environment. Northfield is a $180M company with 11 manufacturing plants and 2 distribution centers across the states of Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Ohio, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Wisconsin
Leads financial processes that result in accurate reporting and support quality decision making
Leads finance team providing direction, coaching and development
Analyzes data that summarize and supports critical trends
Directs preparation of budgets, reviews budget proposals, and prepares necessary supporting documentation and justification
Participates /advises in strategic business planning
Creates and supports an internal control environment that safeguards company assets
Supports initiatives driven down from the National level CFO
Fixed Asset and CAPEX reporting. Track and monitor all CAPEX projects
Inventory management
Meets accounting financial objectives by forecasting requirements
Guides other departments by researching and interpreting accounting policy; applying observations and recommendations to operational issues
Prepare property tax returns and reports required by regulatory agencies
Plan, develop, organize, implement, direct and evaluate the organization’s fiscal function and performance
Participate in the development of the corporation’s plan and programs as a strategic partner
Maintain standard costing
Evaluate and advise on the impact of long-range planning, introduction of new programs/strategies and regulatory action.
Evaluate the finance division structure and team plan for continual improvement of the efficiency and effectiveness of the group
Audit locations and assist internal and external auditors
Assist in full accounting software integration and usability as needed
Oversees the preparation of plant and business line financial statements and analyzes same
Handle all lease accounting
Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent experience
8 - 10 years of leadership experience in general accounting/finance areas
Experience with standard cost accounting, inventory management, forecasting, budgeting, GAAP/IFRS and Capex evaluation
Proven analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to influence others and deliver individual results
Experience supporting manufacturing / distribution business environment
Demonstrated experience with effectively leading teams, coaching and developing individuals
Some Travel Required
Preferences

Knowledge of building materials industry
