Job Description:

  • The Principal, Aerosol Engineer is responsible for technical aspects of maintaining a winning aerosol portfolio within CIK-MIK-FIK through an understanding of consumer needs, manufacturing, regulatory requirements, and corporate goals (red el, sustainability, etc.). The Principal, Aerosol Engineer is responsible for proactive leadership of the tech horizon for CIK-MIK-FIK for aerosols and adjacent technologies/products. This role provides broad knowledge in the areas of expertise for CIK, MIK, FIK aerosol segments; including aerosol packaging, aerosol formulation, and aerosol manufacturing while mentoring junior scientists within the CIK-MIK-FIK aerosol teams. Additionally, the Principal will provide technical direction within the CIK-MIK-FIK aerosols for the development of new NPD (New Product Development), force majeures, and corporate strategic goals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Lead the technical aspects of maintaining a winning aerosol portfolio within CIK-MIK-FIK.

  • Interact closely with marketing to understand the needs unmet by the winning portfolio.

  • Demonstrate business acumen and strategic thinking skills. Translate high level strategies into tangible business growth.

  • Work closely with other cross functional teams to solve force majeures/supply issues within CIK-MIK-FIK aerosols through challenging themselves and others to think outside of the box.

  • Interact closely with GSARA and external agencies (e.g. CARB, HCPA, etc.) to understand the emerging issues and their impact on the winning portfolio. 

  • Determine impact of emerging technologies and active ingredients on the winning portfolio; and propose next steps to resolve any issues or take advantage of potential opportunities.

  • Build in design for manufacturing within NPD by understanding the SCJ in house manufacturing aerosol footprint.

  • Lead/mentor other technical professionals within the CIK-MIK-FIK team that will promote technical curiosity and a bench strength of technical aerosol professionals.

  • Advisor for the Pest Control Tech review process for aerosol projects.

  • Collaborate with the Aerosol Platform Lead to update the SCJ aerosol technical development standards, validation plans and test methods based on Pest Control learnings and requirements.

Required Skills / Experience / Competencies:


  • Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

  • Bachelor’s degree in science or engineering including statistics, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, or other related technical field and a minimum 10 years of experience in the consumer product industry or master’s degree with at least 7 years of this experience.

Preferred Skills / Experience / Competencies:


  • Possess rigorous knowledge in aerosol technology and how that can deliver goals within pest control.

  • Understanding of aerosol development tests and quality tests.

  • Proven record of developing projects, forming cross-functional team, and executing the solution to drive business outcomes in consumer products.

  • Demonstrated leadership with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively with co-workers who are not in their direct reporting relationship.

  • Possess strong written and oral communication skills; ability to communicate accurately to all levels of stakeholders’ cross-functionally (e.g., manufacturing, GPS, marketing) .

  • Possess strong analytical skillset to tackle complex problems and devise pathways to find solutions.

  • Proven record of working through ambiguity and thinking outside of the box to challenge the current status quo.

  • Ability to talk through the data; must be comfortable in how to measure, analyze, build a story, leading to solution pathway.

  • Proven track record in delivering commitments with significant impact to key business metrics and initiatives.

  • Ability to coach and influence at various levels in the organization.

  • Possess key attributes such as: drive for results, decision quality, courage, interpersonal savvy, systems thinking, risk analysis, and contingency planning.
