The Navigation Coordinator performs QC tasks, loads geophysical navigation data, and creates the line in Exploration Archives.

 

Job Description:

Since closing the Anadarko acquisition, we have been working to identify the seismic data.  The successful candidate for this position will learn the job responsibilities and execute.

To reduce overall seismic data management costs, Oxy is working to migrate seismic data.  This migration will require the digital movement of data from one seismic vendor to another and it will require significant quality control measures to ensure that the migration is done properly.  The successful candidate for this position will also learn these quality control measures by shadowing the Weir contractor performing this job.

 

Key Responsibilities:

• Receive requests from the Geophysical Coordinator.


• Review Catalog session contents for navigation source.


• Validate 3D bin grid through defined software and processes.


• Perform quality control (QC) on 3D navigation against validated bin grid information and other reference material (contracts, maps, block info, etc.).


• Create 2D line list of catalog session for Landmark loading group.


• Receive 2D navigation from Landmark loading group for lines to be created.


• Verify and map navigation.


• Load navigation and create lines in Exploration Archives.


• Ensure Exploration Archives metadata fields are properly populated (Shot For, Shot By, Shot Date, Survey Name, Line Type, Country, etc.).


• Create session line list and load to session.


• Create ZIP file (APC_VERIFIED_NAV.ZIP).


• Catalog ZIP file in the Catalog session of Exploration Archives.


• Validate that navigation is correct through defined software and processes.


• Validate the line navigation in Exploration Archives and ensure data displays properly in iMaps/GIS System.


• Release the Catalog session and notify Geophysical Coordinator et al when navigation QC tasks are complete.

Qualifications

 

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree of Geophysics, Geodesy, and Geomatics.


• Strong in Geomatics/Geodesy/GIS skills.


• Strong in CRS and Datum Transformation.


• Strong understanding of seismic survey data acquisition projects (marine & land seismic).


• Strong understanding of SEG, UKOOA, EPSG standards.


• Familiar with Global Mapper, Geographic Calculator, GPSeismic, and ArcMap.


• Strong understanding of seismic data and how it is utilized by the oil and gas industry

• Ability to communicate findings to others in written and verbal form
