Monrovia is the premier grower of ornamental and edible plants to retail garden centers and horticultural distribution centers across the country. In addition to the corporate office, Monrovia has four nurseries located in California, Connecticut, Oregon, and Georgia.
We are seeking a Content Marketing Manager who will develop garden content that inspires consumers and builds brand awareness, engagement, and trust. The ideal candidate is someone with a knowledge and passion for plants, gardening, and landscape design, who has excellent copy writing and journalism skills. We will be counting on the candidate to conceive, create, and execute email strategy, produce blog content designed to motivate further interest in our website and purchase of Monrovia plants, and assist in producing other marketing collateral (plant guides, posters, and other materials).

This position can be located at our Dayton, Oregon nursery, or working remotely. Familiarity with Adobe Suite, Hubspot, and Magento a plus.
Primary responsibilities:
Content Creation:
Brainstorm, develop, and execute engaging, informative garden content that grows brand awareness/sentiment and motivates purchase
Develop content calendar for email and blog that focuses on sharing the right plants at the right time, working in consultation with marketing team and sales
Write, edit, and produce (including choosing photos within brand guidelines) content for the Be Inspired Blog and Grow Beautifully monthly newsletter
Work with freelance photographers, photo editors, and others to source landscape design photography featuring Monrovia plants
Build emails within Hubspot and produce blog posts in Magento
Interview landscape designers to produce articles that demonstrate best uses of Monrovia plants
Create special plant promotion emails and nurture campaigns
Moderate blog comments
Assist in copy writing for posters, plant guides, and other garden collateral as needed
Reporting and Results:
Track, report, and respond to content metrics using Google Analytics, Hubspot, and benchmarking
Produce weekly and monthly reports as requested
Create mechanisms to gather and share email metrics and other content marketing insights. Including anecdata to support the consumer care team and enhance our digital Knowledge Base
Management of Audience:
Create and identify customer segments within Hubspot to target more relevant content
Other job responsibilities:
Support Director of Digital Marketing with analysis, execution, and continual improvements to Monrovia’s SEO strategy for digital media
Manage and evolve Monrovia’s content standards, including editing for tone and voice. Ensure consistent application of guidelines and standards across content channels, collaborating with Social Media Manager to evolve as needed.
Conduct and analyze consumer research to aid the Marketing team in making more data-driven decisions.
Gather insights and input from sales, marketing, and other sources to inspire content
Key Qualifications:
Possess an optimistic, problem solving mindset
Love being part of a small but nimble team
Demonstrated knowledge of plants, gardening, and landscape design
Fluent in general technical aspects of email marketing and content management systems (CMS)
Excellent written communication skills, strong copy writing, and understanding of storytelling to promote product
Ability to multi-task in fast paced environment as priorities shift
Fluent in interpreting brand tone and voice
Minimum qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in horticulture, journalism, communications, or related field
At least two years of experience with garden writing and editing in a professional environment
Demonstrable writing/editing skills about gardening subject matter with a strong portfolio
Experience with desktop publishing tools, including the Adobe Creative Suite (particularly InDesign and PhotoShop)
Effective time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects at once
Possess analytical skills to interpret digital metrics and build strategies based on analysis
Desirable qualifications
Experience or interest in the gardening/horticulture industry
Strong attention to detail
Ability and willingness to travel occasionally through the year to our various nurseries
Ability to express analytical concepts effectively—both verbally and in writing
