Plans, coordinates, monitors, and supervises the activities of production personnel to insure the safe and efficient operation of the manufacturing facility.
Interprets and communicates overall organizational directives and applies them to meet or exceed the company’s performance goals.
Provides leadership to influence process change and coaches lean thinking across manufacturing.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Oversees processes, equipment, team members, safety, housekeeping, product quality and a production rates within assigned areas
Functional member of plant safety committee, driving prompt resolution and helping to advance a robust and effective safety program
Safeguards operation of equipment by calling for repairs; evaluating new equipment and assisting with development of techniques used for production
Ensures fair and consistent application of policies, provisions and terms of the collective bargaining agreement are administered properly
Serves as the first management level for resolving issues and addressing grievances
Maintains staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees; developing personal growth opportunities
Champions lean manufacturing goals of on-time delivery, continuous flow, customer satisfaction and zero defects
Accomplishes manufacturing performance objectives by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures
Partners with other leaders to ensure robust change implementation
Co-designs lean systems that aid in improved workflow, improve efficiencies and maximize utilization of facilities, personnel and operations
Compiles, initiates, sorts, and analyzes production performance data and communicates progress on metrics to management and hourly production personnel
Other Responsibilities:
Perform other duties as assigned
Manage special projects as required and assist other departments when necessary
Perform Semi-annual Physical Inventory
Qualifications:
Undergraduate degree in Engineering or related discipline; extensive work experience may be considered in lieu of education
Minimum of 5 years of supervision experience in a manufacturing setting
Must have experience in material flows and inventory management; continuous improvement practices; and process analysis
Lean or Six Sigma training is a plus
Excellent personal computer skills in a network environment; Microsoft products experience preferred - Outlook-Word-Excel
Track record of successful project management
Experience in working in a team environment
Management style must be consistent with Company Culture
Strong planning/Organization & Time Management skills
