Tooling Inspector

 

Reports to:  Tool Design Supervisor

Location:  Salt Lake City, UT

 

Job Summary

The tooling inspector position performs inspections on items made in the Machine shop, to verify that they are to print. This function also packages and assists with shipping, as well as transports items to outside services.

 

This hourly role follows a competency framework that provides a pay rate based on experience and proven ability to meet the requirements and competencies of the position.

 

Job Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent; specialized training in machining a plus


• Basic measuring equipment skills such as calipers, CMM & other optical measuring equipment


• Mechanical abilities and desire to work in a hands-on, physical environment


• Basic knowledge of safety standards


• Basic computer skills and understanding


• Strong organization skills and attention to detail


• Ability to detect tooling abnormalities and recommend solutions


• Ability to work non-standard schedule as needed


• Regular and predictable on-site attendance


• Other duties as assigned.


• Ability to read, write and understand directions in English

Competencies

• Has to maintain a safe and clean workstation. (5S)


• Needs to be able to read and understand a drawing


• Must be able to use basic measurement equipment


• Can package and crate items to be sent out of house


• Has the ability to inspect and assemble base business molds

 

Preferred Skills

• Able to use CMM, OGP, or Micro VU to measure components


• Can transport items to outside services (heat treatment, anodizing, ect.)


• Able to maintain Inventory


• Able to run manual lathe or manual mill
