The successful candidate will provide entry to mid-level technical support on environmental characterization and remediation projects throughout the Southeast. Support Tetra Tech, Inc. (Tt) project managers by scoping, planning and executing complex environmental investigation and remediation programs under CERCLA, RCRA, TSCA and other regulatory programs for Federal, State, and private client groups.

What you will be doing:

Responsible for a variety of program and project related tasks for both government and private clients. These projects will include multimedia sampling, interpretation of data and designing integrated active and institutional remediation programs. Excellent personal organizational skills are critical to the success of this position. Essential duties for this position include:


  • Interpret project needs based on regulatory structure and requirements, develop project parameters for environmental investigation and remediation project execution, set milestone schedules, and track progress.
  • Plan and implement sampling programs with appropriate sampling tools and protocols to meet QA/QC requirements for multi-media environmental sampling, including surface and subsurface soil, overburden and bedrock groundwater, sediment, surface water, ambient air, indoor air, and soil vapors.
  • Develop and implement sampling and analysis plans and quality assurance project plans under the UFP and other regulatory structures;
  • Coordinate and implement complex field sampling programs, manage and oversee multiple field staff and subcontractors, as dictated by the project objectives and project plans;
  • Oversee, evaluate and document work performed by subcontractors on site during field operations to ensure work is carried out in accordance with contract specifications;
  • Tabulate and assimilate field data collected into coherent products for project team review and presentation;
  • Prepare environmental reports for regulatory review, including data interpretation, tabulation and mapping of analytical results, evaluating and establishing patterns and trends exhibited by such data and determining compliance with regulatory requirements.

What we are looking for:

  • A bachelor's degree (BA or BS) in Geology, Earth Science, or Geochemistry.
  • A minimum of one to five years of professional experience in scientific, regulatory, environmental consulting, contracting or related industry. A master's degree from an accredited university can substitute one year of professional experience.
  • A minimum of one year of experience working with investigation or remediation of hazardous materials release sites under CERCLA, RCRA, TSCA, or other environmental response programs
  • Experience with drilling and installation of groundwater monitoring wells.
  • Experience with multimedia sampling, including groundwater, soil, and sediment, air, and/or soil gas.
  • A fundamental understanding of location data, GIS and land survey techniques.
  • The ability to read, interpret, and carry out a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite products including MS Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook.
  • Ability to travel and possess a valid driver's license in good standing.
  • Physical examination and receive an approval to work in accordance with OSHA Standard 40 CFR 1910.120(f).
