Geosyntec is seeking a Senior CAD/Drafting Technician to support project needs in the Jacksonville, Florida office.  The selected candidate will perform computer-aided design and drafting (CAD) for a variety of environmental, and geotechnical engineering design projects. We are seeking an experienced individual who can draw figures and details for environmental engineering projects, including industrial sites and utilities.  Projects may also include mechanical drawing systems and opportunities to provide drawing support from the conceptual design stage through post-construction documentation.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Provide technical support within an office of approximately twenty professionals;

  • Draft, edit, & finalize technical drawings and environmental figures such as groundwater flow maps, spider diagrams, and concentration contours;

  • Operate a CAD computer using appropriate hardware and software (AutoCAD current releases) to develop drawings;

  • Transfer information from an engineering drawing to a final CAD drawing using appropriate symbols and drafting standards;

  • Analyze sketches, notes and other input material to determine best approach to complete drawings;

  • Operate plotter, printer, scanner, and other input/output devices;

  • Proofread CAD drawings for quality, accuracy, format, grammar, adherence to company standard details; and

  • Participate in Geosyntec's CAD Action Group, by supporting, networking, and collaborating to improve CAD standards and efficiencies across the company.


EDUCATION



  • Associate's or Bachelors' degree. (required)


SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS



  • At least 3 years' experience performing CAD drafting work in a professional setting; or equivalent combination of education, experience and training that provides the prerequisite knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job. (required)

  • Experience using the latest releases of Autodesk AutoCAD, including but not limited to Annotation Styles, Multileaders, MTEXT, Dimensions, Sheet Sets, Paper Space/Model Space, XREFs, Layers, Dynamic Blocks, and Tool Palettes. (required)

  • Working knowledge of the latest releases of ArcGIS. (preferred)

  • Knowledge of civil engineering techniques including sheet organization, topographical data, scales, and coordinate systems. (preferred)

  • Experience developing and working with grading plans, cross-sections, alignments, and profiles for small civil and environmental design projects. (preferred)

  • Experience using/incorporating land or aerial surveying/mapping data and files. (preferred)

  • Strong reasoning, mathematical, and geometrical skills. (required)

  • Practical knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Windows, Outlook, Word, and Excel. (required)

  • Valid U.S. driver's license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)
