The communications manager will work with other internal communicators to develop and execute innovative and effective internal communication solutions at Alight. The candidate will interact with executives, managers and project teams to assess communication needs and define objectives, audiences and key messages that support the strategy and deliver results. The candidate will use both innovative approaches and proven solutions to deliver the best possible communications and will work across boundaries to ensure holistic communication and change support with the colleagues at the center. The position will report to the VP, Communications.

Responsibilities

Serve as editor of Alight's company intranet. This includes:


  • Overseeing the editorial process for developing and producing news, stories and visuals.

  • Posting, updating and managing content on the site in coordination with others on the Communications team.

  • Partnering with others, including the Communications team, to ensure news stories support company messages and values, are globally representative, and continually drive traffic to the intranet.

  • Serving as a primary contributor to the intranet through planning, sourcing, researching, writing, editing and proofing content.

  • Editing and proofing content to ensure it consistently meets our publishing standards.

  • Monitoring site metrics to derive insight into the effectiveness of the site/content to guide data-driven decision making.

Drive intranet site enhancements with the IT department to continually improve the site experience for employees and keep it engaging, fresh, exciting and relevant.

Develop and implement communication plans and deliverables for key HR, inclusion & diversity, community relations and employee programs and events globally.

Provide communication support to leaders in Alight locations globally as needed related to local changes, events and programs impacting employees.

Carry a significant writing workload, creating a wide range of communication deliverables - including face-to-face, video, voice, online - to engage and inform all levels of colleagues. Contribute broadly across the Communications team to support key initiatives where needed.

Experience and skills


  • Bachelor's degree in related discipline; MBA/Master's degree a plus (journalism, communication, organizational development, English, business)

  • 5+ years of relevant communication experience

  • Exceptional and conversational writing skills for a variety of audiences and formats

  • Strong business acumen in technology, professional services and/or an operations environment

  • Demonstrated strong organizational, planning, project management and presentation skills

  • Fosters camaraderie, inclusion and collaborative relationships both in-person and virtually

  • Demonstrated ability and comfort in working with executives to advance communication strategies

  • Well organized and can balance multiple priorities with the flexibility to pivot and shift responsibilities as needed to meet team objectives and deadlines

  • Has a detail-oriented eye for proofreading and editing

  • Proven understanding of change management concepts and communication technologies

  • MS Office proficiency required

  • Strong photo and visual storytelling sensibilities

  • Adobe Photoshop proficiency

  • Work location is virtual from home within driving distance of Alight headquarters in Lincolnshire, Illinois (able to attend meetings in person without significant travel)
