SUMMARY

The Sr. Manager of Employee Relations oversees the Spectrum Reach Employee Relations team across the full Spectrum Reach enterprise. This newly created function and team will provide guidance to the HR Generalist team, leadership and employees. This function will serve as an internal expert on company policies, practices, and state/federal employment laws. The Employee Relations team will be responsible for conducting internal workplace investigations and supporting managers on employee performance issues. Since this is a newly created role and department, the Sr. Manager of Employee Relations will help establish the operating procedures for this department. She/He will create sustainable workflows, and best practices and partnerships across the organization. The goal of this function is to help continue to mitigate company risk, while at the same time helping the HR Generalist team and leadership to improve the overall positive employee experience at Spectrum Reach.

JOB DUTIES


  • Oversees a team of ER professionals that counsels and guides managers and employees in the areas of employee relations, policy interpretation, dispute resolution, corrective action procedures, and performance management.

  • Work closely with Sr. Leaders to elevate the performance of the organization through best practice sharing.

  • Lead the team, in partnership with HR Generalists, overseeing investigations into employee concerns and complaints relating to various employee matters. The Sr. Manager will also interact and work with team members outside the Spectrum Reach organization, particularly Charter's Employee Relations & Legal teams.

  • Act as liaison with internal and external Attorneys on legal matters, following the direction of Charter Corporate HR and Employee Relations.

  • Counsels employees regarding a wide range of issues and complaints.

  • Participates in establishing Human Resources/Employee Relations strategy and works closely with HR, Recruiting, and Learning teams to influence the ongoing improvement of our employee friendly culture.

  • Acts as liaison to HR Generalists, partnering with the organization to improve performance in the organization as needed.

  • Identifies gaps in training and recommends broad solutions for the organization to implement as needed.

  • Analyzes ER data/metrics for themes, trends and root cause identification. Shares findings and potential mitigating strategies with key partners.

  • Creates summaries and other documents related to the ER function. Assist with project work as needed to include training, research, and other projects that support the business.

  • Supervise 2-3 Employee Relations Associates

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5+ years of progressive experience as an HR or legal professional, a concentration in employee relations work is a plus.

  • A proven track record in conducting investigations, mediations and understanding general employment law, any formal training in these areas is strongly preferred.

  • Prior management experience is a strong plus

  • Demonstrated strong written/verbal communication and facilitation/presentation skills

  • Strong consultative and assessment skills are needed. Ability to quickly assess documents and make decisions based on limited information.

  • Ability to manage sensitive and complex employee relations issues in a confidential, objective, and systematic manner.

  • Examples of project work related to employee relations, morale improvement, risk mitigation, are critical.

  • Proven track record of working collaboratively and influencing at all levels within the organization, and making decisions while keeping partners and leaders informed is essential.

  • Proven experience in managing multiple projects with strong time management and prioritization skills

  • Proficient in PowerPoint, Excel, and Word

  • A PHR or equivalent certification is preferred, but not required.

  • Bachelor's Degree

  • Ability to travel 10% of the time
