The Professional Billing Coding Education Coordinator is an auditor/educator that will work directly with the PB coding team on educational needs. This position will work the quality audits and NSQIP quality spreadsheets to compile education for the Professional Billing coding team. The Professional Billing Education Coordinator is a liaison between Professional Billing coding, and Revenue Integrity (RI) and will assure consistent education is given to the Professional Billing coding team. The Professional Billing Coding Education Coordinator will assist in coding WQs when needed, and will assist with develop and updating of Professional Billing Coding Policies and Procedures. The Professional Billing Coding Educator will be heavily involved in the use of our computer aided coding system and will utilize reports to capture educational opportunities for both the Professional Billing Coding staff and providers.

Required Qualifications:

*High school education or equivalent required.

*Complete accredited course work for coding certificate with current credentialing as Certified Coding Specialist, Physician Based (CCS-P), Certified Professional Coder (CPC), or completion of an American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) accredited Health Information Management (HIM) program with current credentialing as an RHIT/RHIA required.

*Minimum of three years post-secondary education with coursework in business, medical assistant program or nursing assistant program OR equivalent combination of education/experience in coding (one year of education equals one year of education) required.

*Demonstrated analytical abilities to identify and comprehend opportunities for coding and documentation improvement through observation, data analysis and interpretation required.

*Knowledge in PC based applications, specifically an encoder required.

*Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain working relationships in department and with provider departments to foster a team environment required.

*Must be self-starter, exercise independent problem solving skills and manage job priorities in a self-directed manner required.

*Effective verbal and written communications skills required.

*Demonstrated knowledge of International Classification of Diseases (ICD), Current Procedural Terminology (CPT), and Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System (HCPCS) required.

*Knowledge of coding guidelines required.

*CPC and/or CCS-P certified required.

*Ability to create and present education through PowerPoint.

Preferred Qualifications:

*Certification as Certified Risk Coder (CRC) preferred.

*Special credentialing offered through the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) preferred.

* RHIA, CPC, CCS-P, CRC preferred.

*Experience with Optum EncoderPro and 3M Computer Assisted Coding products preferred.
